How quickly can I switch?
Hi, I recently switched an old account to Coop to take advantage of their joining offer - about 2-3 months ago. The switch fully completed but I believe the autoforwarding element of the switch might still be active. My partner has just had an email from Nationwide offering a switching bonus for both of us. is it ok to…

Joint bank accounts post-bereavement
My parents have a joint bank account but Dad is unconscious / seriously ill. We are starting to plan for post-bereavement, which is likely to occur at any point in the next couple of weeks. A family friend has suggested that Mum sets up her own bank account and transfers money to it in advance of Dad's death, to prevent…

Direct debits question..
Hi, I've recently lost my debit card iIordered a new one last Thursday but it still has not arrived :s my main question is will this affect my direct debits coming out? Part of the process of ordering a card is having the previous one cancelled incase it has been stolen. Will this affect collections? My main concern is a…

Sweating buckets - FP limits
Just ended up rushing around like a headless chicken to sort out my house deposit (as I didn't want to pay CHAPS). I'm sure I read Lloyds had a £25k limit before but someone on here linked to some page saying they had £99,999 so I didn't worry about it -_-" Walk in Today & Lloyds £25k limit. Transfer remaining £7k to TSB…

M&S account - do you actually need to transfer a DD?
So m&s are offering their £100 voucher for transferring to their account with no minimum pay in. I was just wondering, if you have a redundant bank account still open with no DDs set up to come out of it, can you transfer this account or will M&S require some sort of DD or SO to be transferred over? Thanks in advance

Santander fee when switching account.
My fee for the Santander 123 gets taken on the 12th of each month. Unfortunately, the increase in the fee is from the 11th Jan, so my Jan fee will be £5. I've done the sums and after tax (the £1,000 / £500 proposed allowance is used up elsewhere), it is not worth keeping the account for me. Reading the terms it says the…

Halifax switching account
Hi all, I'm wondering if someone can answer my question. I changed banks & I changed my direct debits over myself. I've yet to fill out the switch over form to get my £100 reward. The reason I've avoided this is because I'm currently paying off my overdraft on my previous account with the help off Payplan. Is there a…

Pay at pump £1 pre-auth
So, a friend of mine has very stupidly got himself into a bit of trouble. He used his debit card to put £10 fuel in at a pay at pump petrol station. He got excited because he thought he had only been charged £1 for fuel. He assumed the pumps were broken and proceeded to fill up the tanks of all 3 of his cars. Lo and…

Bit if advice. Trying to budget.
Hi there. I'm hoping someone can help. I'm finding it hard to budget at the moment. I recently did a soa and found that after bills and food we should have ;£881 a month left over. The trouble is we never seem to see it. Ideally I'd like to save 500 and use 300 on anything we might want throughout the month. If it stays in…

Euro currency account advice
Hi, I am getting married in Italy next year and over the course of the next 6 months will be paying various suppliers (wedding planner, hotel, music, catering etc) in Euros to an Italian account. Until now I have been using TransferWise which has been working well. However, the exchange rate is good at the moment so I'm…

Saving attitude of mind
I was reading some of the thread about how much people save each month and it struck me that the monthly savings figures are, in many cases, quite high and certainly a lot higher than I have read is the average household "save" in the UK. Only a minority of households have an emergency fund of 3 to 6 months of net income.…

N&P Building Society - Any experience with it?
I was thinking of opening an account with N&P since they have a debit card that acts like the "Halifax Clarity" and the "MBNA Everyday+" cards but read quite a bunch of bad reviews about it when I googled its reviews. So I was wondering if perhaps some of you have experience with this bank? Is it as bad as some people are…
