Aldi/Santander
Yesterday I tried to get cash back at an Aldi store using my Santander 123 debit card. Before he put it through the assistant said, oh it's a Santander card this might not work. He was correct it wouldn't work. He said it seems to be a problem only with Santander cards. I haven't had a problem getting cash back in other…

HSBC Technical Issues - Wages Not Paid
HSBC seems to have a big technical hiccup this morning. I should have been paid today and my employer banks with HSBC. It didn't arrive so I called my boss. He double checked the BACS file and the account details were right and the settlement date is today. However, the bank told him that there was a glitch which meant…

Best way to use TSB account
I have just switched to TSB for their nice 5% on up to £2k and taken over about 400 quids worth of direct debits. I guess the best way to use it for now is never let it go under 2k - pay in 500 (min monthly payin) beginning of the month and take out whats left over 2k at the end of the month?

Switching bank account
This is going to sound like a silly question I expect... I'm in the process of switching bank accounts. I think I am right in saying that I have to manually change the details of my bank with my employer/anyone else that pays into my account...what happens if I forget one, since the account is closed, what will happen to…

Western Union refusing to give refund unless I email photo ID
Sorry if this is the wrong board, but I would be grateful for some advice. I decided to send some money to a friend using Western Union online. The transaction was put on hold with a message saying: "If we do not hear from you in the next 24 hours, we will cancel your money transfer and you will not be billed." I phoned…

LLoyds bank
I applied for a loan a few days ago and was declined immediately online. I went into a branch and they were surprised as I was considering my rating was 1b. Lloyds put block on account but didn't bother telling me
I have lived at the same address for the past 4 years and because I'm so conscious of correct information on my credit file I ensure I changed addresses correctly whenever I have moved. I have just contacted Lloyds Bank to downgrade my account so that I'm not paying for one of their packaged accounts. Having spoken to two…

"Extended" cheque clearance at Santander
I paid in a cheque yesterday at my local Santander branch. I checked how long it would take to clear and was given the usual 2-4-6 rule, unless it went into extended clearing, which obviously took much longer. Can't find anything about this in their T's & C's. Google seems to only associate it with Santander. Can anyone…

Nationwide flexplus query
A quick check to make sure I haven't misunderstood: I was looking round for a bank account offering travel insurance and came across Nationwide Flexplus. Fraud (ebay) question
I wasn't sure where to put this thread but a friend lost her debit card on Sunday and didn't report it as lost until Monday by which time someone had used it to buy something (£130) on eBay. I know that she should have reported it lost immediately but without going into detail she is very suicidal anyway so this wasn't top…
