LLoyds bank

I applied for a loan a few days ago and was declined immediately online. I went into a branch and they were surprised as I was considering my rating was 1b. Apparently the b determines what apr they are willing to offer.

I sent a complaint to Lloyds Bank today and promptly received a telephone call back and apparently the issue was that an x appeared on my account and they confirmed this was in error and the reason the loan was declined. The manager said she has come across this before and the IT dept are dealing with the problem.

They were very good and gave me £42 which included telephone calls and a goodwill gesture. They were pleased I had brought this to their attention.

I would be interested to know if anyone else had come across the same problem bearing in mind the manager has seen this before.

I approached Nationwide BS where I have an account and they gave me the loan at 3.6%. So I knew then there was nothing wrong with my credit file.

There is a slight chance that Lloyds could have different criteria and that Nationwide were willing to accept a credit history that Lloyds weren't, but you're probably right.

Do you use your Nationwide current account? I ask because I may need to go loan hunting soon and I've only had 32p in my Nationwide account for the last 4 months....

I think if it were an issue with me they would not have given me a goodwill gesture. Also I have had an account with NW for about 20 years and paid the mortgage off with them in January of this year.
This was paid off 12 year early so I must have scorned some browny points with them.

Why not try doing a soft search with them and at least this will give you some idea of acceptance.
