Natwest have just closed my account
Right, I've had a standard account with Natwest for the last 3 years, last year I called up to inform them that I've changed addresses and the bloke on the phone upgraded my account with a £500 overdraft, no problem I thought as I'll use it as my main account and close my other one. This didn't happen and so the £500 was…

Smile bank say I owe them £84 in charges because I was overdrawn by £2.21 - which itself was a charge applied by the bank. Basically I had an account which i wanted to close; when I spoke to them in July, there was a direct debit still going out of the account; I said I would stop the direct debit and pay the outstanding…

Do A&L provide Cheque Books by default?
I have had my Alliance and Leicester account for just coming up to a year. I was in the process of setting up a Tesco Finance savings account when it mentioned needing to send a cheque to make your initial payment. Standing Order taking ages to reach account.
I've got a joint account with A&L, and on Friday I need to transfer money to each current account. Only today is Tuesday, and it still hasn't hit my current account, yet if I'd sent it manually on Friday it would have hit the current account on Friday. I don't understand how the same transaction can take 4 days or 2…

Since then thousands can't logon, and for those who can, like me, we can't make payments, move money, set up transfers - all the things you need to do with a business account. New IDs are being sent to customers - this may take 7 to 10 days!!!!!!!!!! For a business…

Beware banks may take direct debits EARLY this Christmas
As Christmas and Boxing Day hit on Thur and Fri this year there are four non-working days in a row. This has a confusing impact on direct debits and standing orders scheduled for any of those days. What's the worry? Payments delayed till the next working day may leave you in default. Alternatively payments made too early,…
