Quick Payments?
I have online banking with RBS and can move money from my account to another bank and it appears in minutes. I am not the best with money and do sometimes get charges for unpaid dd's. I am thinking of finding out if the companies I have the dd's with would be happy with me making payments this way. It would only take me…

Bank of Scotland Preference Account?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I wasn't too sure. My OH has just applied for a small load £1500 to top up our funds to buy a new car with the Royal Bank Of Scotland. However, when he was on the phone the girl told him he automatically qualified for a Preference Account, with £1500 credit already on it. Now for me…

What checks do banks make when opening current account?
I notice that when I opened my current accounts the banks have only done an Unrecorded Enquiry which is a credit search that other lenders do not see. Is this how all banks check you when you apply for a current account? If so, that's really good as it means you can apply for as many current accounts as you want and it…

On checking my balance I noticed I have 3 credits of £1000, £419.19, & £9.38 arriving on the same date listed as 'NOSTRO ACCOUNT'. I called the bank & they say the creditor has not disclosed any information so they cannot tell me…

Genuine Emails from Banks
I've been thinking about what banks are doing to educate people about fraud from phishing. Emails that certain banks send out don't seem to fit with the 'never click on a link in an email' line that we are always told. A few months ago, I got some 'newsletter' type emails from Nationwide, and last week Natwest sent one…

Faster Payments = Damp Squib??
Now that the Faster Payments scheme has been in operation for a while (6 months or so), what's the verdict? For me it's pretty much a damp squib. My own bank imposes a £250 limit on transfers using the Faster Payment scheme so for the transactions where it's most valuable (to me) I'm stuck with the old 3-5 working days…
