I have online banking with RBS and can move money from my account to another bank and it appears in minutes. I am not the best with money and do sometimes get charges for unpaid dd's. I am thinking of finding out if the companies I have the dd's with would be happy with me making payments this way. It would only take me about 20 mins on pay day and there wouldnt be any more charges. Am gona try it and see what they say.

Do you mean Fast Pay?
Its a substitute for BACS and has not been fully rolled out yet.
Only a small number of banks can handle it.
Some of these have placed restrictions on the size of the transacton involved.
I think they are waiting to see how it goes before fully committing to the principle.0 -
It should be possible to find out whether or not the companies you have direct debits with accept faster payments and what the sending limits are from RBS, so that shouldn't be a problem. Another possiblity is asking if you can change the date your direct debits go out, if that would help you.0

Thanks for the ideas guys. Money is a bit tight at the mo and I usually end up juggling money about to cover my dd's and one slip and BAM!!! a lovely charge £38 for an unpaid item and £28 for going overdrawn. Will contact them and see what they see. Doubt the mortgage provider will but am not so bothered about that one it's always the first to go anyway;)0
