If an interest charge of a £1 is due out of an account on the 24th will paying in cash £5 this morning cover this or will Barclays charge £22.00 for using their reserve?

No - it's showing as dated the 24th - they're gonna shaft me I just know it.
I'm hoping it will show up tomorrow morning as having cleared in their system.

Charges are based on your balance at the close of business, so no, you shouldn't be "shafted" at all.

You can go a million pounds overdrawn at 9am if you want, and we really don't care provided it's back there by 6pm.
