worried: my banking stopped by ex-work mandate!! stopping

Hi, i hope this is the right place.

I just got a horrbile shock from my bank about why my credit score is wonkey and why i'm banned from internet banking: I have recently been made a signatory for my OLD place of work's bank account! My old employer asked for this to be done in Nov 2007, and it has finally gone through - one year later! We chased them up in March. unbelievable!

BUT I left the small company in August of this year. No letter has arrived at the company to say i'm now allowed access to thier bank account!
that's proof of Barc**ys uselessness!

So now i'm apparently jointly responsable for their bank account - the advisor said i'd be Liable if they went into recievership or could be accused of fraud! I dont even work for them anymore!

AND my internet banking has been withdrawn as it would give me access to their account!! Is this legal? (and why didnt they tell me this was a possible repercussion, i'd never have agreed to being a signatory if i'd known.

I asked to be taken off the mandate immediatly, but they said that's not possible. As nice as my old employer was, it is now all voluntary staff there and they wont have the time to sort out big issues! I cant wait another year for them to sort out the forms!! Any advice please??
