Bank paid cancelled direct debit
I think I'm right on this, can someone confirm? Last week I cancelled a direct debit (via on-line banking). Today, the money got taken from my account. I just spoke to the (completely useless) girl who said that I have to pursue the company (the insurance arm of the bank) for the refund. I think it's covered by the direct…

God I've messed up. My partner and I both have Premier Direct accounts with Alliance and Leicester. Wanting to keep things simple we opened a joint account on the 24th April with A & L too for paying out mortgage etc. The account would have a balance of £0.00 until we completed our house. Prat here paid his Lloyds credit…

I always understood a cheque to clear within 3-7 days after you cash it. But was told by a friend that they had heard or read from somewhere that while this is the case, it could still bounce back even if it had originally cleared, this could happen after 45 days... Anyone know if this is true and what website or source…

Which joint current account (Not A&L)
My girlfriend and I are looking for our first joint account. This will be for the usual stuff - paying the mortgage and shared bills out of etc. We each have A&L premier direct current accounts. Because of this, the only A&L account we can have is a plain old current account, which doesn't pay any interest. As we will be…
