Paying directly into someone else's account

I've got an LTSB current account and would like to pay someone directly into their bank account from mine.

How do I go about doing this, and is it possible via internet banking? Will there be a charge? A few days is fine, I don't need a same day transfer.

Thank you.

It is possible to set up a BACS (free) payment taking 3-4 days to reach the othr account.

You log onto your account and set up the payment.

You need the usual data of account name, number, sort code - and tell them when and how much to transfer.

Internet banking is a wonder! I've just credited my daughter with some emergency money and as we are in the same bank it will probably be in her account tomorrow. And no bank charges.

What you need is: the recipients account number and sort code, plus the name of their account. On line transfers usually take 2-3 working days.

If you go on-line you should choose "making a payment to someone you have never paid before" (this option with similar wording is available on NatWest, Barclays and Nationwide on-line banking)
If it is to a credit card or utility company then your on-line account provider will predict the starting numbers of the account you want to pay so that you are reassured that you have picked the correct MBNA or Mastercard account for eg.
You can also pick what day you'd like the money to leave your account (or immediately) so you can pay your credit cards on a set date for eg.

It's pretty straightforward with internet banking. Once you've successfully logged onto LTSB internet banking, select your current account then choose 'Transfers and Payments'.

Then, within the 'payment' section, click on 'Click here to add a new recipient to the list'.

Then click on 'Pay another person'

You'll then need to enter the sort code and the account number of the person you're paying, and the amount and date to send the payment

There's no charge, and it takes up to 4 working days to reach the target account.
