Halifax or First Direct? online usability
Hey all, I'm opening a current account soon to replace my current. Wanting experiences on Halifax and First Direct as they're the ones I've narrowed it down to. Interest rate wise, Halifax wins but as the money coming in, disappears only a day later, its not a huge criterion. And apart from the £100 gift vs FD's £50, I…

What rules should banks introduce
Now that things are going to change, after the bank charges revue has been completed. What rules do you think should be introduced by banks, voluntarily or compulsory. I think Un-authorised overdrafts should be banned. As in you can't go past your overdrat limit, if you have one, or overdrawn at all. If you do try to,…

Why's opening a current account such a big deal?
Hi I have been lurking in this forum for about 2 weeks while trying (unsuccessfully) to open a bank account and now I am !!!!ed off. I need an outlet and maybe some of you can chime in. Most of people here have problems getting a "decent" bank account because of their credit history. I wonder why are the two related as…

OFT and Bank Charges
I work for a bank and we had a memo come round that March is when the OFT finish their investigation into OD Charges and are "likely" to rule that a maximum charge of £12 for an unpaid item or for exceeding an OD limit will be put in place. So what are people going to do then? People are moaning that £35 is too high for…
