The stumbling block tends to be your own bank not handing over the details in a timely manner.
If you contact the companies and Halifax contact them as well, it could cause confusion.
I did it all myself and ran two accounts until I was happy it was sorted.
Not much help, sorry.
Thats what i was thinking, cheers for thatif i had known then what i know now0 -
I'm in the process of changing my bank and I'm not using their transfer service. I'll run the two accounts and as soon as a DD comes out of the old account I'll telephone the receiving organisation and swap my details over. At least then I'll know it's done!0

I will keep both accounts going until to its all sorted. Sounds like too much hard work phoning each company up to swap. Trouble is when you deal with humans over the phone is they dont always get it right.if i had known then what i know now0 -
I know what you mean and I don't have many direct debits to transfer, probably about 7 or 8, so it's not going to be such a massive task for me. Its the first time I've ever changed my bank account but the thought of reclaiming all the charges from the Halifax is pushing me to do it. I can pay off one of my CC's with the extra money.0

In orfer to qualify for the £100 bribe is it not in the terms and conditions that you HAVE to use their account transfer system?0

Sounds like they are transferring away from the Halifax not too it so the £100 doesn't come into it...
Sorry - re read the OP post - Yes you have to use the AATS system to get the £100...best not to muck about by contacting the companies yourself - they should be able to do it all for you.....0 -
