7 Current Accounts with Overdraft Facilities. £5700 in total.
1 Due very shortly (HSBC) which should be at least £500
    NATIONWIDE £3,000.00
    COVENTRY FIRST £1,000.00
    HALIFAX £500.00
    LLOYDS TSB £500.00
    NORWICH & PETERBORO' £500.00
    A & L £200.00
    HSBC £0.00

Use them all (except HSBC) very occasionally only over weekends or Bank Holidays for literally a day or 2, normally when I haven't got access to computers to transfer in from Internet Savings and I have needed the odd £10 or £20 from a Cashpoint. All the above have their own respective linked internet saver with a small reserve (£50 or so) with the corresponding institution (apart from Halifax). This January's charges were 10 pence and through the year are never more than £1.00 per month.
The Overdrafts are still not enough to fully cover the DDs and SOs that go through the accounts however .

  • My overdraft is £500 and I use (or don’t use it) regularly.

I keep very little money (£20, or so) in my current account. Everything else is parked in a linked savings account, paying about 5% (transfers are instant). When I buy something by debit card, it will get authorisation through the available overdraft. Two or three days later, when the charge hits the account and makes me overdrawn, I will transfer money that very same day.

Which means, I’m not overdrawn at close of business and no interest is due.

    £500 with RBS and £400 with A & L.

Currently £320 into the RBS one but not for much longer, only due to needing immediate access to money due to moving which I can now replace.

Last time I checked RBS would let me have £1300 but there's no way I'd have that much. I always seem to let it slip my mind that it's just like a credit card and that it's still debt.

£3,000 limit, generally running at over £2,000, sailed close to the edge, but never exceeded it. Getting rid of my credit cards first, then tackle the overdraft. Then I'll just have my mortgage, which is, in my view, an acceptable debt to have.
