Need to draw £960 over the counter on Monday, we bank with Royal Bank of Scotland.
What identification will we need? and can we actually draw this amount over the counter or do we need to give prior notification?

I've withdrawn £1000 over the counter at HSBC - all I had to do was write a cheque out to cash, and use my driving license as proof of ID. Don't sign the cheque until you're in front of the cashier... it helps them prove you are who you say you are!0

Hi,
they may ask for ID, a driiving licence, or a utility bill would probably do,
I would think for £960, they will surely let you have that, it's not as if you are going to leave them short.
Why not use your cash card, you could start tonight and then you would be sure of having the cash for monday.
The maximun withdrawal may be £250 a day, though some allow £500 a day, in two seperate transactions.0 -
I would do things the cash card way but the money is not in the bank account until Monday.
Thanks for that though, will take my passport and marriage certificate with me. Both me and my husband would be present as it is a joint account.0 -
I've withdrawn over 3000 out in lloyds over the counter, if its a small branch out of town or near the close of business they might want to know because they will need to keep it out of the safe. I just phoned and asked them, you could do the same if you can't risk it but the majority won't need advance warning.
I had my picture driving licence with me so they just checked that.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

It will depend on whether you are going into your 'normal' branch and if any of the staff know you.
If they don't then you will be asked for identification. A passport or driving licence will be fine.0 -
Not sure about RBS, but for HSBC (over £300), you need your cheque book and some form of ID.
LLoydstsb - I only needed to provide my driving licence. I also called a few hours before i went to the branch as i was getting out £7k.Olympic 2007 challenge Started 9 Jan 2007[strike]Aim Silver 2007.00[/strike] Aim Gold 3007.00 Achieved so far:782
