Old Bank Notes

Options
Whilst sorting out my loft today I came across some old style £10 and £5 notes in a case.

What can I do with these?

Will banks still honour them?

  • Take them to a bank they will still honour them.
    Lucky old you !!!!

    Ooooppppsss
sorry should have said sell them on ebay know ing the plonkers on there you would probably get £20 for a £10 note and £10 for a £5 note!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Ask your bank for the appropriate form and send them to the Bank of England. They will issue you a cheque for the face value of the notes. (Sorry, they do not add interest or the rate of inflation.)

as bank staff i know the correct way to do this, you do not need a form for bank of england this is only if you have only 1 serial number on a note not the usual 2, you can take them into the bank and they will either pay it into your account or exchange them for new notes, no charges taken, but you will prob get more money if they are in fairly good condition, by taking them to a collector who may buy them for more!

Remember, be nice to members of bank staff, you'll be surprised at how much they will help you! But they dont have the powers to refund everything without sending it up to regional offices for authorisation!:D
