Unite against the biggest bank scam!
Perhaps Martin could help here, to get a giant movement going to stop the biggest ever bank scam, THE FOUR DAY CHEQUE CLEARING PROCESS. Years ago when cheques were delivered between banks by runners and entered in a ledger by a man with a quill it took 3 days to clear a cheque. Now with billions of pounds of computer…

3 weeks seems a long time?
3 weeks ago, we made a purchase for nearly £300 pounds using our debit card. As it was an outdoor exhibition, they were using one of the old fashioned types of machine that were in shops before it got all electronic. Now its 3 weeks later and the amount STILL hasnt come out of my account. Is this usual does anyone know?

Any thoughts on the new Barclays Account
Barclays offering a free £5,000 overdraft plus a Barclaycard with a free £5,000 interest free limit, plus free travel insurance for 10 months. Customers must pay in at least £1000 a month and after 10 months the account gets charged £12 a month. Can't seem to find any details of it on their website so was wondering if/what…

Question about moving current account
I'm seriously considering switching from Nationwide to A&L, for the higher interest rate & free money for joining. It's a long time since I switched banks, last time I had to re-set up all DDs & standing orders manually, helped by a handy checklist from Nationwide. I believe all this is done for you now, what I want to…

Natwest -12 months free O/D if salary paid in
http://www.natwest.com/tools/personal/switching/index.htm?referrer=banner0% [Is his a new offer? Any good/bad comments on them as a bank?] The main thing to catch my eye was the requirement to transfer salary to them - no getting around that particular condition. But you could keep your old account, I imagine, and simply…

Bank or Building Society...
Hello, I have been with same bank for 25 years and earlier this year I was overdrawn for a few hours. They charged me £35.00. Admittedly this is the first big money they have got from me in all that time, that is besides setting up direct debits etc. My query, I am also with Nationwide BS. Would there ever be a time when I…

I can't seem to open a current account
I'm trying to open a current account but each one I've tried to open I get turned down as my credit score is too low according to their way of doing it. The one I've got is with Abbey and it pays 0.1% interest at the moment as I'm not putting £1000 in each month but if I do it pays something like 2.53%. I'm unemployed as…

First Direct - check your statements!
I set up an account with First Direct a couple of months ago and managed to take advantage of one of the "join now and get free money" offers. I even got one where I didn't have to transfer all my DD's, wages and so on. Bonus! Thing is, the flyer I got advertised £35 as long as I had a balance of £100+ at the end of June…

A&L Won't Give Me My Money
I've just rang my local Alliance & Leicester branch to arrange to withdraw £1000 from my account for my holiday. The unhelpful lady on the phone said the most I could withdraw was £500 - £250 from the machine & £250 over the counter. So, I rang A&L Customer Service Centre (using the number as if calling from abroad via my…

HSBC Premier introducing monthly charge
We've had a joint HSBC Premier account for a couple of years now, and it's been fine. However, we have now had a letter through to say that they're introducing a monthly charge of £20 :( I'm annoyed by this and tempted to change bank just because of it, but what are the options for similar types of accounts from other…

Joint Account - Which Account?
Hi, On the very few posts I've submitted before you guys have given me some great advice. Got a bit of a complicated one (for me), I've done a search on the forum and whilst the existing threads are useful, none of them answer my concerns 100%. I'm moving into a new place with my girlfriend and would like to set-up a joint…

Current account for stay at home mum?
My other half is a SAHM looking after our 2 year old. She's currently with the NatWest. The mortgage on the place we live in is in her name, and the NatWest has lately started bouncing mortgage DDs, even though she's inside the overdraft limit, because "we can't see any money going into the account". They have done this…

Need advice, joint account problems!
Help! When I lived with my ex a year ago we have a joint account for paying the bills, unfortunately when we split up last July this account was not closed nor did it have a no-ops put on it. There was a reason for this (well the closing, the no-ops i wasn't aware of at the time) being that I needed the account open for…
