HSBC Premier introducing monthly charge

We've had a joint HSBC Premier account for a couple of years now, and it's been fine. However, we have now had a letter through to say that they're introducing a monthly charge of £20
I'm annoyed by this and tempted to change bank just because of it, but what are the options for similar types of accounts from other banks? Apart from the A&L Prem Plus account, there don't seem to be many decent premier accounts that don't charge a fee.
We have a joint income of about £100k if it makes any difference.
- forgot to say, we're always in credit so cheap/free overdrafts are of no benefit to us.

Why pay more than you have to?

You are getting charged because HSBC have revised the criteria for Premier and you no longer fit into it. Too many people were becoming Premier customers and it was losing its exclusiveness, so now they have raised the bar - so to speak.0

Hi, I work for HSBC as a CSR (one of the guys who answers the phones)
It's all part of the new proposition for current a/c's
we are being put under a lot of pressure to sell the plus a/c
here's a tip for free though, currently it is in procedures to refund debit interest of less than one pound without reference or further investigation.
Not a lot, but it helps
Also ring the sales number 0800 130 130 and ask to be transferred to customer service (just say you need to amend a standing order, the sales guys can't do that)
any other HSBC related q's I am happy to answer0 -

Tread very carefully in what you say. You are breaching your conditions of employment by revealing things like this.0
