repaying over payments
Is 36 months the longest period of time that the tax credit system will allow you to pay back an over payment ? My friend was told this by the help line, he owes £1100 and can only afford to repay £10 a month at the moment, until his circumstances improve, but they want £30.

Cut in hours - JSA query
Hello, I've posted this in the jobseeking section as well as wasn't sure where was best. Hopefully someone can help. I'm a part time, postgraduate student. I haven't been on JSA since 2006 for a month or so after graduating. I work part time, only 14 hours, but it pays quite well for a part time job and I usually take home…

Contributions Based JSA - How Many Contributions?
I can't claim this but have always wondered the answer. When you sign on for contributions based JSA, they look back at the previous two whole tax years (?right?), so at the moment 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. They look to see if you've "made enough NI contributions" as an employee. What are they looking for? - a total amount…

Tax Credits did not deduct smp 07/08 year
Hi Everyone Just realised that I did not deduct SMP from our earnings for tax year 07/08, this would of meant that my partner and I would of had a whopping £4000 less to declare for annual income for 07/08 tax year. Does anyone know if it is it too late to claim for an underpayment for that year Thanks

Warmfront Advice
I was recently accepted for the warmfront grant, but to my surprise they will not be replacing my 30 something year old boiler. I was sure they would as it is very inefficient, Eon just put my DD up to £169 to cover usage. I have been told that as it still heats the property and the water then they will not change it, but…

Benefits available with shared ownership home
This is a query on behalf of a friend (age 55) - she was made redundant just over a year ago. She's been unsuccessful so far in obtaining work in London and is beginning to despair of being able to work ever again. Up to now her mortgage (and 2nd mortgage from when she bought ex-husband out of house) has been paid by…

Tax Credits - Nursery Payments
I currently get tax credits which nearly covers one day a week childcare. When my daughter is entitled to the the government funded nursery places I think this payment would cover 2 days (including the funded places). I've just found out that the funded places do not cover summer/easter holidays. (Yes, my first child and I…

JSA and Tax Credits
Hiya My partner was recently made redundant and is claiming contribution based jsa. He expected payment today and it wasn't made - they say due to receiving tax credits. I put a change of circs in for tax credits and the amount was increased but I thought this was based on him receiving jsa. He spoke to tax credits and…
