Warmfront Advice

I was recently accepted for the warmfront grant, but to my surprise they will not be replacing my 30 something year old boiler. I was sure they would as it is very inefficient, Eon just put my DD up to £169 to cover usage.
I have been told that as it still heats the property and the water then they will not change it, but surely the whole purpose of the grant is to help people to save money and make their home more efficient.
Does anyone have any similar experiences or offer further advice on this matter?
Many Thanks in advance
Shaun.

My in laws also got accepted but did not have their inefficient boiler replaced. However they have advised that the money is available if the heating become inoperable.
It appears the grant is to ensure people have some form of central heating.0 -
Unfortunately warmfront will not pay the grant to replace a boiler that still works, no matter how old. The boiler has to be not working as sarflee mentions.
Once you are registered with Warmfront the grant can be claimed at any period during the following 5yrs as far as I know, so if your boiler did conk out you'd be able to call them back again to ask about getting a new one.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Hi shaunkip,
Warm Front is a government-funded scheme which provides grants to make your home warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient.
E.ON will still need the Direct Debit to be enough to cover the amount of energy that you use.
However, if you are going to have new insulation and other energy saving help, it may be that your usage will reduce, this then means that your monthly payments can be reduced as well.
Hope this helps a bit.
