Best Dishwasher

I am thinking of up-grading my elderly dishwasher, can anyone recommend a good make to buy.

  • I had a very experienced engineer out on Monday who condemned my Indesit dishwasher (less than 3 years old). He told me they weren't built to last and recommended I buy a new Bosch one which should last 3 times longer. I have been looking at them and have got very confused by all the different models for around the same price. I have no idea which one to get. Can anyone help?

I have been through this with a few people now. Miele is the best buy but will seem expensive at first. If you ask an honest salesman in Curreys or similar, they will often tell you a Bosch has a life expectancy of 5 years, after that you are lucky, this is assuming normal family use of course. So as a guide, for the same machine on all makes with the same functions, with a cheap make it will cost you between £200 to £300, and may not make 5 years, with a Bosch you should get 5 years out of it and it will cost you around £500 give or take a little. With a Miele it will cost you about £700 or just over but they are expected to last 20 years plus. You often hear stories of people who are still using them quite happily after 25 years.

So assuming 5 years for all the others and 20 for Miele, 20 years with a Miele will cost you about £700 or just over, 20 years with Bosch or other will cost you between £1200 for the cheaper ones or £2000 for the Bosch.

Still not convinced look at the garantee that Miele give, they keep doing 10 year garantee offers, when they are not 10 they usually drop to 5. But what does that tell you about Miele?

I tried all the others in the past, I now have a Miele washing machine with a 10 year garantee and a Miele dishwasher with a 5 year garantee. I had several Bosches in the past and they were fine for the 5 years but I wouldn't go back now that I have tried Miele. Using one is a bit like finally getting that flash car, you can see and feel that it is another class in its engineering, and quality of build, probably why they last.

So if you can afford the initial outlay there is no doubt which is best and which makes more financial sense.

Hope that helps you a bit.

i would agree with happyhero. i have had a miele d/w and w/m and countless other appliances over the years - miele appliances are head and shoulders above the rest and are built like tanks. for fridges, cookers etc. there may not be a lot in it but for dishwashers (lots of moving parts) it's worth it. if you can afford it and intend to keep it for a long time buy meile.

We are now replacing our 13 year old Bauknecht dishwasher and are getting a Bosch Logixx almost top of the range at £386. We only use it every 2 days as we are only 2 at home now, so hope it will last a good while. Miele was a bit too expensive for us.

I've just yesterday received delivery of my new Bosch Logixx dishwasher! £369 including delivery. LouisePhill - the Bosch model range starts with the Classixx, Exxcel and the top of the range is the Logixx. I have a Logixx washing machine and a Classixx tumble dryer which have both been very good. I didn't research dishwashers much because I'm happy with Bosch so just went with their best one. The Bosch website does have information on the models but it is a little unclear.

Bosch appliances always come highly recommended. I've never had any problems with any of my Bosch appliances though I can't tell you about the dishwasher personally because I've only used it once so far, although I can say that the one wash went very smoothly!

without wishing to sound like everyone else...Bosch does it for me...started out with a slimline one but then when re-did the kitchen managed to rearrange things so I could fit in a full size one. Never had any trouble at all with either.

  • My dishwasher is now 44 years old and apart from a tendency to be slow getting going and being a bit creaky in the lower joints, still performs the dishwashing to a very good standard.

    It's a Mike.
Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.
  • Hi! After reading a number of reviews on dishwashers on this site, we settled on the Beko DWD 5410 and purchased it from Comet. The dishwasher is brilliant! It has a short 35 degree wash cycle that brings most things out crystal clear. It is really quiet as well (you have to put your ear to the door to hear if it is filling!!) Having previously had a Miele for the last 14 years, we have found this to be better in terms of washing the contents!
The only downside is that there is an art to stacking the top rack, but you soon get used to it!!
All in all a fantastic purchase and thanks to all those who recommended it!!
