Hi (Tried to post this earlier but it vanished!)
Does anyone want to join me and support each other in a low-carb weight loss challenge?
I'm starting tomorrow (26th March) with a long long way to go but I'm hoping to lose 1st by the end of April!
Any ideas on how to save money when buying meat/fish/cheese etc?
Any hints on packed lunches for work?
Thanks
S.x

I do Atkins and dont have any fryups.
I havent lost a lot - roughly 5lb in 4 weeks but I have an underactive thyroid which makes it a bit more difficult to lose weight anyway.
I eat a lot of fish (£2 a bag from Tesco), eggs, cheese, chicken (ready cooked strips from Makro in a huge bag on offer for £6.99) and turkey.
I limit myself to 10 carbs max per meal roughly. And I have strawberrys nearly every day and quite a lot of salad stuff.
Good luck with your low carb. Its not that difficult if you have the right frame of mind - like all diets. The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -

That is averaging out at just over a pound a week though and I believe that it is easier to keep off if you lose the weight gradually. People who lose too much weight rapidly always put it back on. Sometimes, people take it too seriously, lose loads of weight, your body thinks its being starved, your metabolism slows down, you fall off the wagon, eat quite a lot and because your metabolism is slow, you put loads of weight back on again - vicious circle. Best way to lose it is slow and steadily - just imagine carrying a bag weighing 5lb around with you every day, you would be knackered.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 607 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Thanks Honey28 for the new thread.
Had a mixed weekend but mostly good - less than a week until I go to Oz to see my sister so the thought of baring all (well, not quite...) is keeping me at it. Had an unhealthy dinner Friday night (3 scones, a hot cross bun and a very large packet of Maom sweets  ) but since then been REALLY good and been to the gym yesterday and today. Only problem is that I seem to have pulled a muscle in my hamstring and was beginning to hurt when I was running - going to be a bit cross if I can't do as much as I want at the gym this week.
Made a really great sort of curry soup thing in the SC today - was using up veg in the fridge and threw in onions, carrots, sweet potato and butternut squash with some Korma curry paste, a carton of passata, some hot water and chilli flakes, and some lentils. It was really tasty and very filling. Got some left for lunch tomorrow and Tuesday at work.
Got a really busy few days ahead so hoping that will keep me on track with the eating as I won't have time to snack or think about food.
I did say I wouldn't get weighed until after I come back from my hols, but think I may get weighed tomorrow as I'm sure I have lost whatever I put on when I had my bad days last week. See how I feel tomorrow.
Good luck everyone with your weigh ins.Proud to be dealing with my debts0
