A very big welcome to everyone!

It’s that time of year again when we reflect on how much we over indulged at Christmas and New Year and start to think about making resolutions to lose weight/get fit ;)

Does this sound like you? Then please do join us. We’re all friends and there’s plenty of motivation, encouragement, laughs (and sometimes tears!) to be had here!

You dont have to be following a specific weight loss plan to join in. Some of the plans being followed are Slimming World, Weight Watchers, Rosemary Connolly and many folk are "going it alone".

Why not join LOIS LANES 2lb WEIGHT LOSS CLUB with its weekly weigh in. The chart is updated every Monday evening so be sure to post your losses (or gains  ) Here is the CHART

We’ve also a January challenge of Lose 7lbs by 5th February. Just let us know that you are part of it.

Wow - lose weight 9... I think when I first started it was 6:eek: ! We can't half chat.

Sorry I didn't report in yesterday :o- I was at yoga last night for the first time in forever (feeling really stiff today but SO worth it!). When I did get back the forums were down for maintenance. I sorted out my budgets etc instead as we're looking to do some work on our house this year (stuff that needed done from the time we first moved in 9 years ago!) and really need to save.:money:

So - my goal in the meantime is to stick to our budget of £120 until our next payday (which means cutting out the scones at tea time and no trips round to the shop) and join the lose 7lbs by 5th Feb challenge (see before! :rotfl:). I haven't been 100% so far this week - more like 60 - 75% but it's definitely better than the last few weeks when I've been stuffing my face with a heap of rubbish.

Lois, please put me down for the 7lbs by 5th Feb challenge.. and as for my goal weightloss... I'll just set that for 7lbs at the moment too. (Don't want to get bogged down by how far I have to go... baby steps!)
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

Welcome Lamorna. You know, you've done the hardest part, posting for help and support (as Honey has said). You really must stop buying in the type of foods that you can't resist. You're asking too much of a human being to not have it if it's there. If you've got OH and/or children to cater for, do like I used to do and only buy in the stuff you don't like (Garibaldi biscuits spring to mind, lol).

Could you join a group? If you can, it would give you something to look forward to each week, which may help with the depression too. It's hectic and noisy but lots of fun - we laugh a lot in my group!!!

If you can, get yourself a slow-cooker. They're brilliant for having a meal ready when you walk through the door and you can do so many things in them, not just stews. Keep a box of chopped fruit or veg in the fridge to munch on while you go about the daily grind and every time you reach for that instead of something more fattening and a lot less healthy, give yourself a pat on the back.

Evenings are the worst time for most of us and it's generally down to boredom. Can you knit, crochet, make cards etc?? You could start a beauty routine - nails one night, feet pampering another etc. The thing is to give yourself something to do that keeps your hands and mind occupied (preferably something you enjoy, so it's a pleasure, not a chore).

Drink lots of water (my mantra), it really does help, and keep posting every day, it will keep you motivated and no doubt you'll learn something new every day too.

Go out tomorrow with a shopping list of healthy food, but don't force yourself to eat things you hate, it won't last unless you enjoy it. With SW you get real comfort food - I've just had a massive plate of chips, eggs and baked beans and it was all free food on the Green plan - how good is that :T

I shall look forward to reading your posts in a day or two when you've got yourself under control and can see the light at the end of the tunnel :D

Oh and welcome to Kas too!

Arrggghhh - I wrote this when Lose Weight 8 was open and by the time I came to post, it was closed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I had chips eggs and beans tonight too consultant! Great minds, eh? Was having a "must have chocolate moment" a while ago. Resisted and had a small clementine. I don't really want chocolate, its just cos its there. I honestly have hardly touched the stuff in months, and now its in the house BAM, I am craving it. It plays havoc with my insides too. I agree its hard to ignore it but I can't get rid of it, its the kids selection boxes and I'm not that mean!!

In that case, forcefeed the little 'uns with chocolate till it's all gone :rotfl:

Does anyone else find they don't sleep well when they're eating rubbish? I had a better night's sleep last night than I have all through the festive season. Going to have an Options now before another early night.

Ooh, by the way, if anyone's interested, ASDA have 5 Options for £1 at the mo, I love the hazelnut and the cinnamon ones, yum!!

Way to go Shoeluver - keep up the good work!

If only I could get the turkish delight ones again consultant, they are my favourite but very hard to get.

Off to prepare tomorrow's lunch for work and then an early night.

    Catch you all tomorrow

    Hello all!
Lots of lovely new people again today - that's great!
Today has been quite good - I had all free foods until mid afternoon when I had a Twix finger through stress in work - wished I hadn't afterwards though. Never mind had sweet potatoes (baked) and beans for tea. It was really nice for a change from normal baked potato.
Took the dog for a 45 minute walk this evening to try to burn off the Twix - I'm knackered now and so is the dog! He's fast asleep on my feet as I type this - bless.
I'm off work tomorrow and that's always a danger with food as I tend to pick at things. I have lots of little jobs to do so hopefully that will distract me and the ASDA man is due at 2pm (probably won't turn up until 5!) so I can cook something yummy for tea. Any nice veggie suggestions?

I have signed up to teach the disabled and learning difficulty swimming class on Sunday mornings at my local pool and its my first time this weekend. I used to do this years ago (my sister is disabled and so I initially got involved through her) and its great fun and really rewarding - my greatest acheivement was teaching a Downs Syndrome boy called Phillip to swim years ago and he went on to win a medal at the UK Special Olympics a few years later. Anyway, I'm really excited about getting involved again - should be great. Will let you know how it goes.

Anyway, off to watch Big Brother.
Be good!!!! Step away from the chocs!!
    Rachel.
  • Hi everyone - got confused for a moment there but realised just a new thread for the same chat.

Feel bit down as after my great weight loss should be feeling really positive but home on my own this evening (DD staying with her dad this evening) and came in tired and fancying chocolate. There are still chocs from Christmas (can't bring myself to throw away stuff - or give away even) and I gave in and opened the box. I should have known better. The box is now empty (200g) and I feel dreadful - not only the guilt but because my body really didn't need all that and now feels sluggish.

I hadn't actually had my evening meal so do I now have something nutritious or just have some fruit and try and minimise the damage by not having any more food today?

Really fed up, but more than anything, disappointed in myself that I have only managed a week before messing up. On the positive side I did get to the gym today - only managed 30 minutes as that's all I could squeeze in, but figured that a little was better than not going at all.

    Why is this so hard?
Proud to be dealing with my debts
