Sorry Honey got it off the in-laws for Christmas not sure where they bought it. Still in the car from last night might go fetch it and look at it properly.

Honey have a look on https://www.robertdyas.co.uk, they have some great offers on all sorts of things. I often buy my raffle prizes from there.

TallGirl using the slow-cooker is so easy. If you're going to add potatoes and carrots/swede etc put them in first and make sure they are covered with liquid or they won't cook. The meat can go on the top and doesn't need to be covered with gravy. Don't add too much liquid as the meat and veg will give off quite a lot.
It's really just a case of throwing everything in, turning it on and leaving it to do it's magic.

Welcome Catmeister, it's good to have you here. It doesn't matter when you weigh yourself as long as you stick to the same time every week and wear roughley the same clothes. That way you'll get an accurate record of your weight loss.

Edimew there's no need for you to cut the lager out completely! You need to consider if you can bear the thought of never having any again  If that idea fills you with horror, then you won't stick to your diet if you cut it right out. Could you not allow yourself to have some on certain nights only and have it in ½ pint glasses so you feel as though you're having twice as much (if you see what I mean). Cutting something out that you really enjoy is a shame when cutting down would do (if you have the self-control).
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Can I join please? Would love to lose half a stone by 5th Feb, especially as I managed to put on 5 lbs over Christmas!

You're in! There must have been something funny about this Christmas as lots of people seem to have gained 5lbs!
PS when's the most reliable time to weigh yourself? I find there's quite a difference between morning and evening...

I tend to weigh first thing in the morning, after I've been to the loo, but as long as you weigh at the same time every time, it will show your progress. Don't fall into the trap of weighing yourself every day, or even several times a day, as weight does fluctuate and any slight changes in the wrong direction could get you down.

    Hi all

Phew, I can't keep up with all these new members this week! :D The 2 pound weight loss club is now up to 42 members, which is great.

I've had a good day today, although I've been feeling quite hungry for some reason. I planned ahead and made sure that my food drawer had plenty of bits and pieces to pick at, and there are no naughties at work, thankfully!

Another green day today - I prepared a vegetable curry in the slow cooker this morning (recipe on the recipe thread), and I've just finished eating that with some Ainsley Harriet spicy couscous. I've also made some rice pudding, but I'm feeling quite full now, so it's staying in the pan until later.

One of my new year resolutions is to cut down on alcohol, and I made the decision not to drink on weeknights, only at the weekend, so I've reserved my syns for a glass of wine (or 2) later. It isn't easy to change habits that have been acquired over a lifetime, and even if the amount you drink doesn't exceed the healthy limits, it is high in calories, so in terms of SW syns, it can blow them all in one go.

I hope everyone else is having a good day.

lol tallgirl! hopefully we'll all get rid of the chocolate this weekend, one way or another. My new start is going okay, but I think me and thrifykatie are in fact the ame person because when I read her posts i think 'rhat's exactly how i feel and exactly what I'm doing'. I even went to the gym on the same day too! spooky. Still, i may not have stuck particularly well to theplan today, but it's a whole lot better than i was doing last week, and by next week i hope to get back on track. I've started feeling guilty about food again and sneaking it into the house when oh is not looking which is just not healthy. Sigh. anyone got anything positive to report? how about whether or not Father Christmas brought you anything nice? Anyone made and New Years Resolutions NOT weight or food related?

    Hi Katiepopcat,
My resolutions (or promises to myself to be more exact) are to donate blood (haven't done this for years) and to do something a bit more worthwhile and to stop being as self centred (sounds worthy but all I currently do is work, eat, look after the house and dog and sleep).

So I have already made an appointment for the 17th to give my first pint of blood, have signed up to teach disabled kids swimming on Sundays (first time this weekend) and am hoping to find a hobby - don't know what yet though. Any suggestions? I'm not at all creative so knitting, sewing etc are out, I travel a lot with work (so it would be good to be able to do whatever it is whilst I am away) and I work quite long hours when at home.

Help me think of something other than food!!

Hi all, thought I would join in here as I'm trying to lose weight both for general wellbeing and for my wedding in September :) I'm currently 14st 5lbs, and I'm 5'6". I am a size 16 top, 18 bottom, and would like to be a 12 top 14 bottom in time for the wedding. I was a sze 12/14 about 5 years ago but depression made me eat and eat and eat!! So now I'm paying the price and I've managed ti get from a size 22 in the last 2 years, but I am way too lazy and need to put my back into it :p

I have been told by the doctor to lay off several food groups to try and help my endometriosis, which helps with dieting, but I could just do with a little support :)

I'm feeling much more energetic these days (who knows why), and today I went to the ice rink. I loved it. Felt so happy after that; I love skating. If I had the chance, I'd do it every day. Unluckily, the rink is being dismantled in mid-january...
Determined now to eat lots of salad during my holidays next week and to do more exercise from now on (beginning with long tourist walks). I've been doing well with my pledge of eating more fresh fruit and vegs (oh, I love that tip of keeping grapes in the fridge), and now I must be careful to keep up to it.
See you in a week's time! xx

    Good morning everyone.
I hope it's OK me just jumping in here. If I'm breaking any forum etiquette do let me know.

Anyway last night we had a few drinks for my bosses birthday. Instead of guzzling a few pints of lager I gently sipped on some lady like gin and slims.
There was a buffet so and I had some potato wedges and some chicken gougons things. No doubt they were full of sugar and transfats, but it could of been worse. Before you all start thinking I'm some sort of saint can I just point out that there was nothing involving pastry on offer. If there had been it may have been a completely different story.
Early days but I'm pleased with my self :)
