Just checking in. You are alldoing well and very organised. I've had a couple of good days (counting points). Then yesterday a friend asked us to go out to a curry house!! I had a popadom with the onion stuff, then Chicken Tikka with salad as this seemed the lowest option. Still got tempted to have a few mouthfuls of naan bread!! Anyway, today is going to be a good day. Mushrooms (cooked in microwave - no fat) with WW toast for brekkie, thenits going to be h-m veg soup for lunch, not sure about dinner yet - don't know what OH bought at Sainbury's. Keep going all. I am not going to get weighed again till Wednesday, as a group of us are doing it at work. I've kept away from all the chocs and biscuits on the coffee table at work - before Christmas I got well and truly stuck into them. I am very weak - I find I can't have 1 or 2 chocs etc, I keep going, so I'm best steering clear all together.Weight loss - here we go again - watch this space!

I'll be back next weekend, let's see if I can manage to read all those posts!
And yeah, skating is great. One of the most energy-spending sports, which can be done quite effortlessly. And I find it very relaxing.
Have a nice holiday madauri.
I like ice skating but my backside doesn't:o
MissMPRENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Nice to hear we are all trying to get back into the swing of things. The rain is lashing down here so cannot be asked to go out again.
Done my first beef curry in the slow cooker and now just have to wait until tonight to taste it. It is my fisrt attempt at cooking a curry from scratch as well as use my new slow cooker but I used to receipe book that came with it so it should be OK.
SuzieW I used to havea diet club at work we paid £1 if you put on, 50p if you stayed the same and nothing if you lost. We kept a chart and it was great fun doing it every Friday. I now work from home so cannot do it and that combined with the change of jobs meant I put on 1 stone so it did work for me.
Take care all in this horrid rain.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Hi there!
I don't mean to be rude, but would I be correct in thinking that most people posting in this thread are a) femaile, and b) over 20?
I only ask because I'm a 17 year old male, with a real interest in getting fitter (although not directly losing weight, I don't really mind how much I way).
Anyway, I was just wondering if there was a thread with basic guidelines and tips on this sort of thing (beyond simply "eat less, exercise more").
Thanks a lot0 -

I think you might be right - and you aren't being rude.HalibutMadness wrote:I only ask because I'm a 17 year old male, with a real interest in getting fitter (although not directly losing weight, I don't really mind how much I way).

If you want to get really fit why not join a gym and get some advice from the "well fit" men? Or perhaps play a sport as they have 'get fit' training sessions?
I think Prince William does Canadian Forces exercises every morning. You could always google that or google something like "get* fit*" (without the quotes).RENTING? Hi HalibutMadness
We've a few male memebers and more are very welcome. Don't let that put you off joining in!0 -
Just popped to let you know that I have had the laziest tea ever but it was actually really nice and very low in syns - a tin of asda chick pea dahl (free on Green)and a packet of Uncle Ben's mushroom microwave rice (2 syns).
Tallgirl - how was the curry?0 -
Hi Everyone,
I'm glad to see that you're all doing so well with your eating plans. My day hasn't been too bad, but that's no great surpise. I have to explain......
I had my scan on Wednesday for gallstones but don't get the results for another two weeks - I wasn't really bothered about it until last night. I was a bad girl! Had chips from the chippie and pizza:eek: (no idea how many syns) but boy did I suffer. I was up all night with pain in my upper abdomen spreading round to my back - the only way I could get comfortable was with 2 hot water bottles, one on my tummy and one at my back. (looks like I may have gallstones after all). It's given me such a fright that I've really had to think about what I'm eating, I gotta tell you - the chips so aren't worth the pain I endured last night.
I need to look into this liver thing a bit more and obviously need to get my test results back, but for now, think I'm looking at a Gillian McKeith type of diet to try and reverse the ill effects.
Need to go (OH has a really healthy dinner ready).
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Hi everyone.
Suzie I'm weak where it comes to chocolates too. I can't have 1 or 2, if I start I can sit there and eat the whole box, so I decided long ago that the only way was to go 'cold turkey' and stop eating it altogether. I had hoped that the craving would go away, but it hasn't (though I think it's lessened) but when it all gets too much I have an Options and it does help!
Incidentally, losing just 10% of your starting weight is very good for you - it helps lower your blood pressure, reduces your risk of diabetes, lowers cholesterol, reduces strain on the joints, improves lung function etc etc, so go for it!!
EmmaBZ you are excused your chocolate and turnover this time since you weren't well, but we have a big boot on the forum for those who go off track :rotfl:
MissMP thanks for the tip on the fish in Morrison's. Wish I'd seen it sooner 'cos I was debating whether to go to Morrisons or Asda late this afternoon and eventually plumped for Asda. Never mind, I'll give it a try later in the week.
Madauri Have a lovely holiday.
Your reckoning on the gin versus lager is spot on. Even the heaviest drinker would have to go some to down several pints of gin, whereas several pints of lager doesn't seem to be difficult (I don't speak from experience, I can't stand either of them, lol).
By far the best option for anyone who likes to go out drinking is to stick to shorts with a slimline mixer alternated with a diet coke (or whatever). It may take a while to realise, but if you're in good company, you don't really need alcohol to have a good time.
Halibut yes, as a young male you would be in the minority, but most men seem to prefer it that way. Suggs will no doubt be along some time soon, he is our resident gym expert, and will be able to give you some tips. Food-wise, steer clear of the junk food, while still eating lots of the healthy stuff (not just rabbit food, but jacket potatoes with baked beans, past dishes etc) and try to avoid large amounts of alcohol and you should be fine.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
