I don't drink tea or coffee because I don't like them so I drink a lot of low sugar squash (and I have to admit to diet coke too).
I think plain water is so bland and I have to put something with it - perhaps you could try a squash instead of some of your teas?
With regards to food, try substituting oven chips with a jacket potato for a change and eat more fresh veg - its surprisingly filling and very low cal. May be try a few ryvitas instead of your sandwich with any topping you like (ham, low fat cheese spread, salmon etc) - when I eat a lot of bread my weight loss is never very good - 2 slices a day should be OK but I wonder about eating more than that? Try looking at some of the recipes on the link on post no 1 in this thread - may give you some ideas for low cal, low fat meals that are easy to cook.0 -
KatiePC yes all the Batchelor's Savoury Rices are free on Green, they make a quick and easy standby meal if you add extra onion, veg etc. They're also on offer in Asda at the mo, so it's worth getting a few in.
Poppielia I bet you didn't eat as much as me (no-one eats as much as me). It's useful when the rest of the family like the same food though!
Rachel no, no - not "think diet", think "healthy eating" - I believe it helps psychologically, then you don't think about "finish diet" (if you see what I mean).
Cupid an overview of SW food optimising.........it's a healthy eating regime with 2 different plans (well actually there are 4 but the other 2 are rather more complicated so I won't bother you with them).
Green days are based on potatoes, pasta, rice, pulses etc being the free food of the day. There is no need to weigh or measure these free foods. Along with these, you get 3 or 4 Healthy Extras each day, where you can choose a measured amount of milk, cheese, meat, fish etc. Finally you get a 'syn' allowance (15 a day) which you can 'spend' on chocolate, alcohol or whatever rings your bell. You can also use these syns on extra meat, fish etc if you prefer.
Original days (often refered to as Red days) are based on the free foods of the day being meat and fish with the same amount of Healthy Extras, but this time they are for milk, cheese, potatoes, pasta etc. Again you get your 15 a day syn allowance.
It sounds complicated when it's written down, but, in fact, it's anything but. The whole family can follow it easily and you can still eat out. We've been out to lunch today and I had much the sme as everyone else except in different proportions (I love carbs, so I had loads of potatoes and only a little meat).
If you're interested you can go to https://www.slimming-world.com and there are recipes etc to look at which show you how to ut it together. It's brilliant and the only time I've ever been slimming when I could eat until I'm full and still lose weight (I've lost over 4 stones with SW).
EmmaBZ it seems to me that you might benefit from having less bread. It has a tendancy to bloat lots of people and if you could cut it out for a week you may well see a difference.
Try having a fibre cereal for breakfast, or yoghurt and fruit and taking a pasta salad to work for lunch would fill you up. Shop bought sandwiches are always loaded with butter (or marg) and mayo, whereas if you made something yourself you could make sure these things were the lowest fat possible.
Instead of chips for tea, try a jacket potato with baked beans.
Avoid meat done in breadcrumbs or batter. These have always been pre-cooked in some sort of oil and are really quite unhealthy. Instead you could have a chicken breast done on a George Foreman grill.
I'm sure you'd see a difference in the way you feel if you cut back on the coffee. Over Christmas I had much more coffee than I'm used to and it's tken me about a week to stop having the headaches I get when I cut down. Nothing that gives you withdrawal symptoms can be good for you can it? If you could make yourself drink water (hot with a slice of lemon is nice) it would do you so much good. Every pore in your body depends on water to keep it running smoothly, it's a real necessity. Have you tried the fruity tea-bags you can buy in the supermarkets? They have loads and some of them are lovely (not all though!!)
Sorry if I've bored anyone to death - once I get on my hobby horse I need pushing off :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Debsx.. it's the late nice biccies that do it for me! Can get thru a pack of cookies at 2am in the morning after she's just gone to sleep after crying all nite... and of course, more biccies in the morning for brekkie.
Although i have been good for the past few days and had weetabix with semi sk milk....oooh i can almost feel the weight slipping off!0 -
Hi Debsx and Plzhelpmesave - what a coincidence both of you the same age with baby no. 3 roughly the same age too!!
The SW plans have changed over the last couple of years. I really would advise that you join a class, even if it's only to get the books and the initial 'talk through' of the plans. I'm sure it will stop you making some mistakes which may prevent you losing weight. It's also less expensive than buying books from eBay (they're a rip-off). It's half-price joining at the mo, so would cost you £9.50 for that and the first weeks class fee.
If you're breastfeeding, you'd need extra HEAs, though I can't think how many off the top of my head.
The biccies have to go though :rotfl: Have a bowl of fruit ready chopped in the fridge for nibbling in the middle of the night if you need something.
Breakfast is an important meal which should keep you full till lunch. Having a fibre type cereal with a banana chopped on top is good, or you could have the full works, bacon, Quorn sausage, eggs, mushrooms & tomatoes - all free food on a red day (if you've got the time of course).
Any questions you may have will be answered by someone on here, so welcome to you both and keep posting!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Both are true, they are good for you but they're also very fattening. If you can't bear to give them away, restrict yourself to only half a dozen each day.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
