hi can i just ask about nuts !! brazil nuts and hazle nuts ? got loads left from xmas ? i have heard it some people say they are good for you and some say they are fattening ?

Both are true, they are good for you but they're also very fattening. If you can't bear to give them away, restrict yourself to only half a dozen each day.

    Hi Emma

It's best to put the scales onto a hard floor, as carpeting tends to make them fluctuate. As for when to weigh, I always think the best time (i.e. when I'm likely to be lightest!) is first thing in the morning, having been to the loo, however as long as you weigh at the same time of the day each time, you will get an idea of how well you're doing. Try not to weigh yourself more than once a week, as although it's tempting to keep a check on progress, weight can fluctuate so much between different times of day and even from day to day, you could end up demotivating yourself. :)

You could always get weighed in Boots or somwhere once a week - same time of day, same-ish clothes. Doesn't matter what time of day, so long as you stick to the same time every week for the most accurate results.

Try to avoid becoming obsessed by what the scales tell you. Often a better way is to use your clothes as a guide (specially the waistband).

Your weight can fluctuate by several pounds at different times of the month, but your measurements will (hopefully) be going down week by week, regardless of what the scales say.

  • Hello all
Can i come back please ??
I've not even looked at the scales for weeks, months it feels like :o
How are you all, all had a good Xmas i hope :)
We had a lovely time here, DD was sooooo fab - i think it will be the last year we can con her into father christmas but it was worth it for the look on her face when she opened her present :D makes all the cr*p she gives me during the year worthwhile :p
OH & i are starting our healthy eating campaign tomorrow. No diets this year cos i always fail at them :rotfl: so just healthy food & gentle exercise to start with. OH just said not gentle, god he makes me mad sometimes  i don't think i could manage more than a bit at the moment am ridiculously unfit!
So ... Lois, if i can re-join the 2lb club that would be great (but i want to start again if i can) i will post weight when i weight in tomorrow.
I'm not joining a club but putting my fiver in a jar each week, i think somebody suggested that a while ago? Anyway i plan to spend whats in the jar every half stone (cos i'm taking it slowly) and buy myself something nice :D
Anyway hope everyone is ok & i'll endeavour to catch up on some of the posts i've missed

Hiya Loopy-loo and welcome back. The fiver in the jar each week is a good idea as long as you don't spend it on sweet treats :D

Hi Loopy-Loo - welcome back, it's great to see you again. :)

I like the idea of a fiver in a jar instead of paying to attend a class, and the idea of treating yourself at each success level will motivate you to lose more. I might try that too, although I've made the decision not to buy any clothes, so the treats would have to be something else - maybe a pampering day at a spa, or a trip to London to see a show...!

Welcome to Debs and Plzhelpmesave and Petrichor -

I'll see you again tomorrow night, and I'm sure we'll all have some great losses to report, after the great commitment we've shown for the first week of the year

You're in exactly the right place Petrichor. All you need is strong motivation and determination, the rest is easy. Any questions you have will be answered by someone on here so post away.
BTW I love your description of how you tread on the scales :rotfl:
