How can I get the Woolwich to give me my statements for the last 6 year so that I can get a figure to get my bank charges back they want me to pay 5.00 for each month that would add up to 360.00 is this a way of stopping you gettting your money back.

Check the article, it has all the steps.
The important point to remember about getting your charges information is that you must state it is a request under the Data Protection Act.
Strictly speaking, you are not asking for copies of your statements, but a copy of charges, but nearly all banks provide statements to facilitate this request, as it's easier for them.0 -

i had made a formal complaint to the woolwich telephone team on october 20th at the same time i asked for my 6 year account history and i recieved a letter and my statement on 28th october and was not charged a penny for them i then worked out that i have been charged £4454 in charges and with interest totals £5158.25 sent letter 1 november 2 follow up phone calls (22/11) and today (27/11) they say they haven't recieved my letters however following my first phonecall my claim has now gone up to head office.
THEY HAVE ANOTHER WEEK BEFORE I SUBMIT A COURT HEARING.0 -

i have contacted woolwich and have been told that firstly,i will only be able to have a list of charges from 2004,and secondly will have to pay £20 for each year required.anyone else had any problems with the woolwich or any advice on the next step.

First post (apart from incorrect posting on another thread - oops!) so thanks in advance for your help.
Finally admitted to myself that I need to sort myself out before sinking further into financial problems and as part of this process I am intending to claim for bank charges but have dithered a bit as I don't want the aggravation of having to change bank accounts.
First of all, has anyone any experience of claiming back from the Woolwich? Do they usually close down your account? And do I need to open a new account now 'just in case' or can I wait until further down the line?
Also, if I open a new bank account do they not need a regular income going in? I have read through so many posts (which are a great help - thanks everyone) but still not sure which account I should go for. If I end up having to close my Woolwich account I will need a new one with a debit card and also direct debit/standing order facilities. Is there such an account I can open without having to guarantee a certain amount going in every month? I don't mind transferring some in each month from the Woolwich (as long as it can go straight back out again as DDs or SOs!).
Really appreciate any suggestions/comments.

There is a thread here where users are naming banks that might close down accounts after claiming.
Check out the Budgeting and Current Account board for suitable bank accounts although I would get your first letter off requesting your charges information done now as you will have plenty of time to look into another account.0 -
I have an account with Woolwich and my account is overdrawn by £205.01 and I am being charged £3 a day as this is an unauthorised overdraft.
I am incredibly cross by this situation and hope someone may be able to offer some advice on how I should sort out this problem.
On or around 1st September 2006, I phoned Woolwich and asked for all the direct debits set up from my account to be cancelled – the balance of the account was then £0.
My request has clearly not been actioned and my account is now overdrawn by £205.01 because of unpaid direct debit fees and unauthorised overdraft fees. On top of this I am now being charged £3 a day because of the unauthorised overdraft.
I am absolutely furious that I am being penalised because of their mistake. I have even been into Woolwich on two occasions to try and resolve the issue and on both occasions have been assured the problem would be taken care of but it never is!
What can I do? I have written to them and told them if this isnt sorted ASAP I will consider taking them to the small claims court but feel helpless....

Hi I'm new here, I have been watching this forum for ages - saw the TV prog the other night about with Stephen Hone and decided to go for it myself - Woolwich/Barclays owe me by approximation £54,000.00 (based on an estimate of 36 months x £1500.00 in charges as that is the amount of charges levied to me in May 2006 alone.) I decided to go for the 36 months (3 years worth) instead of 6 years as my account has only been charged disproprtionately over the last 3 years.
Is this the most amount claimed so far? how have other members here found the Woolwich/Barclays? Do they pay up on time/make lame excuses/fob you off?
All help and advice appreciated no matter how great or small!!!!!!
