Hi... Which address have you all been sending your letters to? I have my branch address, and found a contact address on their website also (but not the Openplan one listed in the Contact address thread). My OH does not have an open plan account, just a normal account, so where would be the best place to send it? Thanx'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0

Hi, got the letter this morning.
It shows all charges going back to January of 2001.
Total charges £423.50
Sent the next template letter to my local branch by recorded today claiming the charges back.
Fingers crossed.
One other thing,we have a mortgage with the Woolwich, will they close this?
We have a £5k overdraft with the Woolwich, will they close this/call it in?
Great site and keep up the good work.

Your mortgage should be safe, but there is a chance they will call in the overdraft. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi thanks for the reply.
If they close the account and call in the £5k overdraft and as I dont have £5k to hand does that mean my only option would be to possibly remortgage to pay off the overdraft?
Thanks catuk0 -
I imagine most of the posts here relate to reclaiming excessive bank charges levied against overdrawn accounts or unpaid cheques and direct debits or standing orders.
However, my mother (who does not have a bank current account but keeps her money in a savings account with the Woolwich) was disturbed to find last week that she was asked to pay a £10.00 charge for the issue of a building society cheque against her deposit account. She has been using this service for years to send small presents to the grandchildren. If they are charging this amount against a relatively small withdrawal I wonder if this can be regarded as excessive charging?0 -
Can anyone tell me how to find out my account number for my initial letter.
My account has been closed for a little over 2 years and I have shredded all the information in my filing?
Any ideas?
ThanksFat and proud lol0 -
With Woolwich you dont have to write a letter just ring them on
08000 234180 they will take your details over the phone and maybe they still have your account number on computor
I rang to claim mine last week and they have already paid the money into my bank accountl0 -
I've popped this into the Woolwich thread as thats a useful phone number to have for the Woolwich.
If they don't/can't give you your details over the phone, send your name, relevant addresses from when you had your account and your date of birth and they should be able to trace your account.0 -
Hi,
I wrote my 2nd "firm" letter to Woolwich last week giving them a final seven days to cough up my £2700 or I'd lodge a court action this week (today is "D-Day"!!!).
All I got back was a reply from my last letter (which I'd sent them back on 25/01/07) saying that "due to the seriousness of my complaint .... usual blah blah standard stuff ... " they would be passing my complaint to their Head office. This now happens to be Barclays in London.
These two have played tennis with my letters for the past three motnhs, and I'm so confused and frustrated by them!
Anyway, nmy question is, has anyone ever got this far with the Woolwich before, and if so, as I excepct I will have to lodge my curt case (and cough up £120 costs in doing so), who should I sent all future letters etc to - Woolwich or Barclays????
Also, would I be right in guessing that on the court paperwork, although Barclays are dealing with my case now, I should still state Woolwich as being who my claim is against???
Any advice greatly received!0
