Bt Total Bb - (merged)

Can anyone help.

States on frontpage on website offer that free hub phone is available on option 3 £26.99, but if you are a current customer and try to upgrade online the 4th/5th page states that the hub phone will cost you £49.99.

Spoke to BT and they confirmed free phone hub was for brand new customers only, so I stated website was misleading but got nowhere.

Should BT honoured this offer for existing customers?.

By the Wireless BT Home Hub icon it has a 5. The footnote says:
    5. £30 charge for Wireless BT Home Hub with Option 1 if ordered online, £50 if by telephone. Free online/£25 by telephone with Option 2 and free with Option 3.

I think the way in which the prices displayed in blue are promotional prices. Then, underneath, in smaller grey type it says for so many months, then £x.

There are now 3 options; are these the "new" packages?
  • That's what I find misleading, choose option 3 and went to place order on line, confirmed telephone number etc and then went to hub page (that's free), then went to phone hub page and it's £49.99. The information underneath on the front page does state new customers only, but states nothing about the phone hub costing £49.99 for those BT customers who are upgrading from another BT BB product. I even phoned them to confirm this.
So I think the webpage should state next to the phone hub *New BT BB Customers only.
  • As a BT Broadband customer, and still having to sign a new 12 month contract to upgrade, i feel that BT should be giving the same deal to existing as well as new customers.

when I spoke to them a few days ago I was told to order on line and it was free.................because when the lady tried to put it through it came up with a charge............so now confused ..........will call them again and see what I can get clarified. Thankfully have not ordered anything yet as checking usage so get right package.

Just read the site again, sure it has been tweeked since last read, if you click on the free hub iicon on levels 2 and 3 it says £30 for existing users with just a basic wireless hub on option 1 and the fancy one on the rest, apparently you get the free phone on option 3 no mention of a charge for existing customers that i can see.

However if you click on more info for levels 2 and 3 the hub is free???????????????with no mention of charge for existing users...........................isnt there a law that says retailers must sell at the cheapest price if two prices on item.

Just out of interest can we buy the hub else where cheaper? as even at £30 its the cheapest, not sure what phone is appropiate so cannot do search on that.

right finally heard back from bt and they say the existing users only get a free hub on option 3 - nothing else.............however I did manage to get a free hub phone thrown in yesterday by quesitioning the clarity of their site and the promotion.

Though it took two hours hanging on the phone to sort out the process of signing up then them saying having problems with my user name which I was never asked for.

As a BT Broadband customer, I have written and complained to BT for discriminating against existing customers; it hardly rewards loyalty.

I have twice closed saving accounts with banks who offered higher interest accounts to new customers only.

If more people complained to BT it might make them reverse their policy.

also allows TV (Premiership football) downloads + film downloads when available and will work with the new Wi-Fi handsets (replacing Dect) that are coming

Works with BT fusion so has Blutooth built in

Also some Freeview personal recorder that ties in with the TV thing...don't think they are mentioning half what this does

I thought it looked like a pretty good deal but the only problem is the download limits. Wouldn't mind paying more for a uncapped version of the package.
