I only ungraded a couple of weeks ago and I was allowed to cancel!
Hmmm, had you received the text?
The first operator said it effects everyone and looking at the current contract terms it says that the minimum charge is still 5p, plus the cancellation dept was quoting the wrong start date for my contract - I did ask why they did not inform me that the prices of the upgrade were totally different but apparently it's up to me to find out the prices?! I'm confused, not sure if they're just trying to fob people off, plus I don't know the actual cut off point.

I'm in a queue as I type, fingers crossed. I only started my contract a couple of weeks to....

Being put through to disconnections now, the operator had no idea what I was talking about lol

Operator came back and said disconnections said I haven't received the text (I haven't) I said can I speak to them please he said they won't unless you've had the text. I am calling again.........

2nd bloke won't put me through either. I said I know about the charges going up and why should I have to wait for orange to tell me, either way I win. If you tell me in a text then I can cancel and if you don't tell me then Orange would be breaking the contract. He is speaking to retentions as I type.

I said so if I don't get a text yet in September when the increased call charges are applied and I make an 08 call then I will be charged 14p to be connected instead of the current 5p which is what I agreed to in my contract.

Just spoke to a supervisor in retentions and she said cos I'm on an 09 plan (signed up July 7th) I'm not eligible cos the new charges would have already applied when I signed up. I asked how I could verify that and she said I don't know, I said but it's only just been announced that the prices are going up so surely that can't be right, she just said I'm sorry but it doesn't apply to you.

    Can this be right?

She must be from planet Zog then....

It seems that this call is the No1 topic atm......

I mentioned to one of the CS team that I'd originally read that all elligible would have to be "contracts taken on before 31st May...is that still correct..?"

"No" she replied - not any more!!

Hopefully I'm affected as I'd love to get away from their customer service, every bill I've had since my upgrade has been wrong!
  • no problem at all as soon as the operator heard the word text he gave in. He did say my contract would end on September 30th (rather than August 30th) because the date in august falls on a bank holiday? ... this is probably a load of lies lol but I didnt have the heart to take anymore money away from them.
Im ending my contract 12 months early with a free blackberry curve 8900 and moving on to a £10 sim only deal 30 day contact - saving me £10 a month and giving me a free phone and allowing me to not be tied down. So I cant complain and am very happy.

Note: he did check I actually received the text so I would wait until you receive yours before trying.

Sounds like I may have been fobbed off.

I just checked the T&C's online for my Dolphin 40 plan.

    calls to 0808 15p
    calls to 0800, 0500 15p
    calls to 0845 and 0870 20p

So no, I'm really not eligible :(
