    Bank: HSBC
    Amount Reclaimed: 554.34
    Amount they paid: 490.35
The story: I followed the guide here sending the template letters and also claiming interest too.

I sent 1st letter on April 1st. Got confirmation letter of receipt with "we're looking into it". Then I sent another on May 15th to which there was no reply. Sent another on on May 30th re-interating how unhappy I was and that I would be taking them to court. Then two weeks later I got a letter offering the full amount of charges but not the interest. I settled and saw my bank account credited on 25th June! :rotfl:
  • Had an account with first direct which was closed a couple of years ago, I sent off for the statements going back six years which I received last Thursday and highlighted all the charges, a total of £1545. Received a a letter 3 working days later to confirm that they were going to offer me £1350.
Have to say, all credit to FD for their promptness.
So anyone with an account with FD shoulnd't have any issues.

I was put onto the notion of claiming back what the banks had taken by a friend who as emigrating, so I read the threads and advice both on this site and the C.A.G forums. Once I had done this for a couple of weeks and felt prepared, I leapt in, in October 2006.

February 2007 I got a full payout from First Direct of £1348 (Ssshhh don't tell anyone, it's confidential!)

Yesterday the (Sh)Abbey paid up as well after a brilliant bit of haggling - Abbey:"Hello there...we want to pay you £300 less than you're claiming"

    Me:"nope. Give me the lot"

    Abbey:"Ok. Here you go".

So I got my full claim of £2900 back from them.

Cheers et al for the advice and support, and anyone who is reading this and doing the claim thing: STICK IT OUT TO THE END, ANDDON@ GIVE IN!!
    FD claim WON!!!!
    Abbey claim WON!!!!
    Overdraft £300 limit

    Amount claimed £4322.71

    Amount recieved £4322.71

Halifax - Sent letters as per web site, and was told that htey were looking into it, paid £250 when filing online with the court, Halifax at first declared that they were going to defend but 2 weeks latter they wrote saying that the full amount plus court costs would be in the account within 5 working days. It was, and we are nearly debt free. Now tackling HSBC, but they aren't too keen on sending me the charges.

    Thanks Martin

    POST OFFICE CREDIT CARD

    £14.77 claimed
    £14.77 received

Paid final balance within date specified in order to avoid charges which were now specified on the May statement. June's statement arrived with interest charges for 'balance transfer'. I queried this and was told that my '0%' period ended in April and that I should have paid the final amount then. I sent a second letter, reiterating my original points and yesterday received a letter stating that they appreciated that the end of the 'interest free' period had not been made clear and as a 'goodwill gesture,' they have refunded the charge.

  • Dear all, just need to spread the joy.

I like most was appauled at the charges being laid upon me, especially since I was always in credit at the endo of the month anyway. I just remember thinking 'This is not right, they are taking ther proverbial' and thanks to this site proving this to indeed be the case I have now been offered a total refund of all my charges for the last 6 years.

I originally claimed for interest as well, but I am more than happy to settle without it.

So don't give up folks, go for it. I maybe oughta change my username now to 'notsorippedoffafterall'

A big smiley thanks to all the guys on this forum.

Total £1546.67 including interest claimed, £1312.20 offered.

  • Barclays
    Amount reclaimed £2471.11
    They paid £2471.11

Well what can I say but THANK YOU :T MARTIN & ALL YOUR COLLEAGUES who run this site.:A
Started the claim 21st April 07. Got the usual letters looking into it, investigating it bla bla. Barclays are so inundated with claims (there words not mine,...serves them right for being so greedy), they never got time to responded to the court.
