I was told I could get movies added to my current discounted package for an extra £16.50, making it around £45 for the following:

    4mb broadband
    Telephone, including talk unlimited
    Caller display
    TV xl.

Has anyone else had better? I know some have had deals in the £30 odd range, but those are for 2mb broadband. Cheers.

  • Hi All,

Its my 1st post, Hooray lol :rotfl:

After reading a few posts on here i thought i would give ringing virgin a try, to see if i could get my bill down.

I was Currently on Base Tv, normal calls, and 2mb BB for £34.50.

So I rang today, as i had a leaflet from sky offering me the tele base pack, free unlimited calls Evening and weekends and 2mb BB all for £15 (Thats without the £11.99 line rental to BT tho)

So i phoned Virgin and i was on the phone for 20 mins waiting but they offered me, XL tv package Free evening and weekend calls and 4mb BB all for £35 a month, :j
I didnt want to push it cos when i sed i would like to cancel my services with them, he sounded as if he was going to cancel them, there and then.

Nevermind got better tv and faster BB

    Happy Days

Had another go this morning (3rd time lucky?)

To remind you I was on 3 for £40 (phone M, TV L, BB L) plus caller ID and call reject (£4.25), total £44.25

    I now have
    Phone XL
    TV L (XL for 6months)
    Broadband M
    V+ box
    Extra box
    Caller ID & call reject

    for £54.20

I have lost the L broadband but it will go up very soon (in a few month) again.

Just have to wait for the first bill now.
  • After a lot of reading I finally called Virgin Media about changing my package.

I spoke to a helpful lady called Laura and she has put me on the £34.95 per month deal for:-

    XL TV
    Unlimited phone calls
    M Broadband

I am really pleased with this and as I have to give 30 days notice to Sky she has told me to call her back when the TV is installed so that I don't pay 2 lots of TV subscription.

I asked whether the anytime calls would start immediately and she said that she would update our existing phone and braodband deal to £19.99 per month for 30 days until the new offer starts.

Thanks everyone for your posts, I felt well informed when I rang up!

I have received a bill today that did not match the previous offer negotited with NTL. I phoned Virgin customer retentions (the old NTL number) to talk about it. As I was on the phone I wanted to renew the then current deal of Talk Talk match.

But the guy actually offered the new package prior to me asking for it:

    2 MB Broadband
    Line Rental
    Talk 24 Unlimited
    40% discount on mobile calls
Cheaper international calls - (for example France at just 2p per minute. However this is the least important bit as even better deals are available via override numbers)

    GBP19.95 per month.

And the main thing is that it it is fixed for TEN years. I obviously grabbed the deal even though broadband is lower then I had. It looks like it is the end to me having to phone them every 2 to 5 months to keep renewing it.

As a reply to those who asked me...

YES, I did take the offer for:

    4 MEG broadband,
    Weekend phone package
TV package with all the channels except sky sports/Movies

All in for £13.25 per month - PERMANANTLY!

I was then offered to tag on Sky Sports and Movies and make it £38 per month (I know its the normal add on price for those but I was paying 35 for what I had so technically paying ony £3 more for those new channels!). Checked SKY for the equivelent package and it cam to £64 per month for all this! Not including BT line rental...

    Here is a tip:

If the person on the other end of the phone doesnt play ball say "Thanks, I will think about it..." and call back again to speak to someone who wants to help or hates his/her employer ;)

I think Ive spoken to about 5 people so far - some will look through every possible offer to get you the best possible deal. Others will just give up after looking at 2 deals and say "thats the best I can do sir/madam..."

Dont worry about cancellation - they cant cancel you unless they confirm it on the phone saying "Shall I go ahead and cancel then?" after you've said no to the offer. Say you will ring them back.

It takes a lot of perserverance (sp) and patience but it will be worth your while. Its not like Ive been with them for years either - I joined in August so only 7 months ago!

Something to keep in mind is the price they offered me - £1.25 rental for the phone + weekend calls (I dont really use it in the week) and £12 for 4 meg broadband.

I may even push my luck a bit and ring to ask if I can better the deal and get a HD box ;)

If you dont ask you dont get! Be cheeky - its not as if they are your boss or they own you!

    GOOD LUCK

PS - Always helps to say something like "This sky thing must be a nightmare for you - Im not sure I could cope with all the calls/business/grumpy people..." or similar. They will appreciate it. Also - ex TELEWEST staff seem more helpful than NTL ones. I used to be NTL and the TELEWEST staff help a lot more...

    I am on 2 for £20 (2 meg BB and L TV).

Phones up yesterday and after 45 mins of being passed from one person to the next I finally got through to someone that could "help". Said I was unhappy with the Sky channels situ and was thinking of cancelling. She says, "i'll just put you on hold for one minute" then comes back and says "Right Mr XXXXX if put 30 days cancellation notice on your account" !!!!!!!!!!!

Am gutted now and am going to have to ring back and say that I don't want to cancel - really p*ssed that everyone else gets discounts and free stuff and I get 30 days notice!!! Great to see Virgin CS is as good as NTL ever was!

If you are worried about them cancelling then dont say you wish to cancel. I didnt and never do.

All I say is "Im unhappy with the loss of Sky one/Cost of things/Etc is there anything you can do to help..."

Call again and stop the cancellation. Do this a.s.a.p as the longer you leave it the harder it gets for them. Then call again and say the above.

Sorry you had problems - seems you got an awkward sales rep :(
