just an update this site is awesome!!!!I got a letter back from halifax took less than 3weeks. Managed to reclaim back PPI plus interest, am so happy it couldnt have come at a better time (turboman...thank you for the calculations...was ahead of them before they gave me an offer...lol....got £400 more!!)
  • A&L wrote to me last month to say I may have been mis-sold PPI on my £3500 loan over 36 months. I took this out 3 years ago via their online MoneyBackBank.com. I didn't even know for sure that I had PPI as there wasn't a lot of paperwork to accompany the loan process.

Anyway, today I got an offer of £199, comprising waht they say were the actual insurance payments made, plus some interest.

This seemed fair enough until I read Martin's post from way back, which suggested 15% of total repayments, might be the rule of thumb.

Question is, should I accept? I don't know what the PPI portion of the loan actually has been, so should I take their word? Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

Hi i have put in a claim with Lombard Direct, and had to go to the FOS who wrote back to me at the beginning of Dec 08 to say, that Lombard wanted to pay me out as a "good will gesture". And it would take between 6-8 weeks for them to do this. It is now going on 12 weeks and im still waiting, after speaking to the FOS about this they have informed me that it's taking Lombard alot longer as they have a huge back log of people to process. My point is, if they did not steal from us in the first place, them they would not have a back log. The FOS have said that they will send them a reminder about my case as it is well over due i'm hoping it comes through soon. Good luck with your care dont give up.

Well done to you. :T

    Hi there

If you can write to them to ask them to send you a full written breakdown of this, this should show what is what, when they arrive post them on the reclaiming discussion thread next to this one and I'm sure they will be looked at for you, you don't want to be down on the money they should really pay you back hun.;)

Its up to you but that is what I would do, good luck and please keep us posted, cheers.

Well done to all you claimers and winners.

Just make sure that you check that you are happy with figures. If they say Good will gesture then they may be trying to get away with paying tou less so pllease be aware of that,

If you are happy with their offer or need the money then obviously accept.

    Well done everybody.

  • I had a loan with Firstplus for £15000 and was mis-sold the PPI. I wrote my own letters to Firstplus and requested all the recorded phone calls which they did supply free of charge. After much tooing and froing of letters, they eventually offered my a 'good will gesture' payment of £829. I thanked them very much, but refused it on the grounds the policy was mis-sold and I wanted all my money back, which was £2900. I went to the Financial Ombudsmen and won my case. I have been informed Firstplus have agreed to pay me £3,600. The ombudsmen told me that the method used to caluclate the amounts to be paid back are laid out by the Ombudsmen and Firstplus have agreed to abide by those rules. I have recently returned the acceptance letter which I received from the Ombudsmen, so all I need to do now is wait for my cheque to arrive.
