Abbey Debit Card, Where Is It?
Comments

Well I can not begin to tell you how angry I am that my NEW abbey debit card has STILL not arrived  . I have made countless telephone calls to LOST & STOLEN and their customer services department and basically fobbed off EVERY time with a different excuse.
First I was told there was a lateness in the production of cards, then I was told it was because of the floods, this aside I was told it would be with me on/around the 2nd August - I should have known from that comment no one had any idea!
I then got told to call back on the 2nd if it had not arrived and that they would have another look for an update. This time I was told it was because of the postal strikes. Spoke to LOST & STOLEN and expressed my concern, my husband is away on business, I can not get to a local branch as we moved away from the original setup area and so I am stuck...
Got told to call back Saturday if it still had not arrived...decided to wait until Monday 5th and sure enough still no card.....
Spoke to the complaints department and told them how unhappy and inconvenient this has all been. The lady I spoke to referred my complaint to her manager, I was then promised a call back from the lady in person with an update...did that happen...yeah right, oh but is ok I have a call reference number . I asked the lady who was going to pay for my phone calls at 25 minutes on hold at a time!!! The lady said that she would arrange a reimbursement of £30 back to my account to show in the next 5 days...nice touch but goes no where near the hassle this is causing me. One of the funniest security questions asked was 'can you tell me a recent transaction made on your card' :rotfl: No is the answer to that one - would you remember what you last used your card on over a week ago! I use mine all the time.
Oh well perhaps it will arrive tomorrow...I don't hold out much hope at this rate! On a lighter note it is a good way of saving the dosh!0 -
£30! I've asked for compensation - and I want more than £30!
They would have charged me that for each transaction if I went over my overdraft. How about we all charge them £30 for every day the card was late? (Not to mention the inconvenience and cost of phone calls.)I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

if you tried to charge them for every day your card was late, they would probably claim they were unfair penalty charges and hence illegal.0

Found out the reason that Internet Banking was down as I thought . I called CS and after speaking to the guy realised that the new ( second new ) card would have a different number on it so my login details would be different . I now have to get not only a new PIN for the new card but a new PASSCODE and a new REGISTRATION NUMBER as well. I now still do not have the new ( second new) card nor do I have the new pin or the other two numbers as well.
What an absolute fiasco.
Stuart .Re the Abbey Fiasco about not sending out renewal debit cards . Mine expired at the end of July .Two calls to India were a waste of time as neither of us could make out what the other was meaning so a call to Card Services on 0800 1697903 a couple of weeks ago got me someone in the UK who checked things and said there had been a system problem but the card would be on it's way .Last week( Friday) I called again and she said that someone had altered the status of my Home Address ( I suspect it was herself ) and that the card might not have gone so she arranged a new card and a new pin number . On Saturday a card arrived valid from 01/06. I called again today and was told that this card had been stopped and that a new one was issued today so here's hoping .
Absolutely nothing on their website about this nor any announcement when you phone .It's impossible to get through to CS unless you hang on about 20-30 minutes and to rub salt in the wounds their on-line banking has gone down this afternoon0 -
Does anyone know how many people are still without their Abbey cards?0
-
I'm still without mine - as with everyone else have gone into branches, spoken to people in India and this country, even spent 1/2 hr on the phone to complaints this am but guess what no answer.
So am now without my new card 9 days after expiration - am like everyone else very annoyed - a letter with some explanation would have eased things a bit.
Will now look into moving but a bit worried in case in changing things are paid etc0 -

My card has arrived, but I complained to the BBC via a link on here. I have just had an e-mail from the BBC asking me to do something for 5Live, but as my card has arrived I'm not interested.

I'm still don't have my card, have been into the branch numerous times to have to get cash over the counter, they know me because of this, yesterday when I asked for cash, the cashier asked me for something else with my signature on to prove my id! What a cheek, I did tell her that. The branch tell me that they have no idea when I am going to get my card, the call centre are useless and rude, and the card services number yesterday told me it still hasn't been despatched and don't know when it will. I am going to call that number for the complaints office this morning.
When I nicely told the lady at the counter that I was going to move my bank account to Halifax she said well you should be careful, we gets lots of people coming to us from other banks, we are better than most............... I did refrain from saying what I thought.0
