It does say..............Whichever free upgrade you choose, we guarantee that when it comes to an end, we'll remove it from your account - no strings attached.

Yes, so if you choose a 12m freebie (mobile SIM or Anytime calls), you may well be locked into a further 12m minimum term, should you want to ditch TT within the next 12m, freebies or not.
It's not clear what you are contracting to.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

the free sim , is 100 minutes per month and any extra calls @35p , , so 25 mins per week? , hell that's about the timer you spend making one call to a typical call centre ,

unless you a a very low user , whats the point ? , a £10 PAYG on for example 3 will give you 332 mins , so the offer from TT is worth less than £3 a month , with the worry of , (for example) going over allowance by 10 mins will cost you £3.50!!!

its a ploy to get you to spend , carrots and horses come to mind

TT are now renegading on the free phone calls offer
Making it impossible to even contact them (live chat down - email us down - not answering phones)

But - are offering 12 months free fibre upgrades to those affected directly by the hacking incident

  • Still not really offering anything to those of us who have the whole package

Can't you cancel any of it and ask for it to be reinstated for free ?
Mind you - free TV for 3 months - hardly worth getting out of bed for
"Most" people will presumably, go for the 12 months of free calls to landline OR mobile calls !!
  • If I cancel I will get lumbered with a cancellation fee so it isn't worth it, still got 6 months to run on our present contract, I have spoken to them about this but they are not in the least bit interested but as soon as my contract ends with them I will be off, after being with AOL/TT for 12 years

You can't get lumbered with a cancellation charge if you are still using the service - they can't sting you for changing an add-on
But I agree with you on leaving TT - I had been with Nildram / TT for 11 years !!
Nildram used to be a superb (UK based) ISP - Until TT got their mitts on the company..
  • They said yes I can add to it but I can not leave without them charging me for the last outstanding 6 months.

What does the free SIM option involve? My EE contract is up and I was wondering if I could use the TalkTalk free SIM as a bargaining tool.

I wouldn't bother with a TT sim - tried one last year - wouldn't connect to EE - cancelled account
