I had to remove my sd card to get ICS to install but it's done now.
Have to say I'm new to android and to the G300 and it's taking some getting used to0 -

Mrs MBS wanted to throw it through the window for the first couple of days (her first smartphone) now I'm sure she would get rid of me before she got rid of the G3000 -
Love this phone, but am struggling to send mms picture messages. I unlocked it to my tesco payg and they sent a text to update all settings, which I have checked and they are correct. However the message just sayes sending and never actually sends, any ideas?
Save yourself some money and download the free 'WhatsApp'
As long as you are connected to WiFi you can send texts and pictures free by using this app.
Tesco charge 25p for each picture don't they?0 -

I have just got the phone, unlocked it and upgraded to Vodaphone ICS
There are about 50 apps loaded and I suppose about 10 of them are Vodaphone related.
I am still wondering if I should load the ICS that you recommended.
There does seem to be alot of bloat on the Vodaphone version and when you try to uninstall some apps like the 'Sims 3 Trail' you get the message 'If you disable a built in app other apps may misbehave'!
This is interesting :
'From Modaco forum:
The MD5 sum of the 'new' Vodafone UK official UK OTA ICS update matches that of the August New Zealand Update. It is identical in every way. Naturally, it has all the same problems.
Dictionary still broken
Caller ID still broken - it doesn't display in time.
Still no hardware accelerated UI despite documented written promises
Still reverts to internal storage after reboot even if you tell it to use the SD card
Still sluggish and slows down over time leading to force closes etc - bad memory management - Why does the ZTE blade, a hugely inferior device, not have these problems?
Still defaults back to factory ringtones when connected to PC
Here are a selection of comments I've found

"Same old s*** posted again why not release a proper bugfixed firmware for the G300 rather than the same old crap"

"utter utter s***"

"I can visualize in my head a group of Chinese and corrupt bunch of Vodafone guys sitting together giggling while they screw us around!!!!!!"

"Its not funny anymore I bought it on the promise of ICS but I expect it to have decent functionality, stuff like the dictionary being broken and messed up mount points are pretty basic functions that ought to work."

I have this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brother.mfc.brprint for our Brother printer on my iPhone but see that it's also available in android0 -

OK on V940 there are no network apps - plain ICS.
There are about 50 apps loaded and I suppose about 10 of them are Vodaphone related.
Dictionary still broken
Its Broken on all versions apart from ones people have cooked themselves - it is fixable though. It should have been fixed by voda though.
Caller ID still broken - it doesn't display in time.
Not noticed any problem - it may be to do with the number of contact databases ICS can pull together? I simplified mine by clearing the SIM, the phone contacts and just using 1 contact list linked to the gmail account. Also avoids duplicate entires

Well the option is there in 940 and it seems quick without crashing.. have you checked in developer options for 'force GPU rendering' ?
Still reverts to internal storage after reboot even if you tell it to use the SD card
Still happens in 940 - I think this is to do with mounting the SD drive later. The G300 has enough memory for countless apps so its not an issue and apps will be quicker on internal. Doesn't affect apps using external SD for big files like music and video or Sat nav maps.
Still sluggish and slows down over time leading to force closes etc - bad memory management - Why does the ZTE blade, a hugely inferior device, not have these problems?
Nope don't get that - used upto 3 days on a charge, no need for app killer or battery saver, no needs to reboot.
Still defaults back to factory ringtones when connected to PC
This is probably because they have put the tones on the ext SD card and the phone can't use the SD card while its acting as a card reader to the PC so picks a default internal memory one.
I have not tested for that -actually I have used other ringtones but placed them on internal memory. In fact I went back to using the stock Huawei tone! I like it and its loud without being garish.
Also I don't connect the phone to the PC - there is a free App called ES File Explorer on Play that is amazing. I keep all my data on a Network Drive and via wifi in this app I can fully access the drive to move files on/off anywhere on the phone - so my phone has 2 Terabytes of RAID drive storage available. It can even play movies straight off the Network Drive. This app will work with shared folders on a PC (although I have not tried it) kiss your USB cable goodbye..

Without rooting all you are doing is hiding the app. If the phone is rooted easy enough to delete system apps (carefully!) I don't know how they found room for all those apps as the system folder is pretty tight. I got rid of crud like Google+ and youtube viewer but that was all really.0 -
I got a message this morning saying New Firmware available.
Is this ok to click on ?0 -
Yes its safe.
If you are happy to have the voda branded ics, then click on.0 -
Just had a text from Voda saying the ICS is now available

However:- my unlocked ex-Vodafone G300 is now locked to Vodafone again! I guess this means buying another unlock code.
- when I switch on, I get the garish red and white Vodafone logo. How do I get rid of this?
