Cashback Barclaycards!!!

  • I wonder if someone can confirm when their card was sent?

I currently get my statements every 18th of the month.

If I applied to change to the Cashback card today/tomorrow etc., am I right in thinking it will be sent to get to me just after 18th November?

Ideally I'd like the 4% booster to be on my 18th Nov-17th Dec statement each year.

    Thanks

This is absolutely absurd. We have already been told both mine and my partners cards would become new cashback cards next month on a particular date. Now we have a letter that says because they wont be afterall because previously they were mastercards.
we queried this and noone knew anything about it. i've been on the phone 2 hours and wasted my day. useless !

    Hi Mikbruin

It's not possible to transfer from a Mastercard product to a Visa product. We're sorry if this was not made clear at the time of your initial request. Although you can't transfer, you can look to add this card by applying for this as a separate account.

    Thanks

Would it not have made sense for you to just have a MasterCard version of each card?

i have searched all the info on the website about this, and it says you can convert an existing barclaycard to the new card. no mention of whether visa or mastercard.
i have 4 barclaycards. 2 visa and 2 mastercards. of the visa ones one is csma 7k limit nil balance, and apparently this one cant be converted either. the other one has a tiny credit limit which cant be transferred from another card. the other two are mastercards , so no good there either.
having already been approved for the new card in a message from the mastercard, and now told that was in error, i feel the whole thing is a waste of time, the offer is not what it seems.
i follow the rules to the letter and new unstated rules are being made on the hoof. When i tried to complain i spoke for 2 hours to an indian lady, who just complained shed had no training on the issue, and offered me a callback in 72 hours, or a complaint that would take 40 days. not pleased:(

  • I'm STILL waiting for my new card. I got a letter dated the 3rd saying I will receive a modifying agreement in 7 - 10 days (not business days) to sign and return. I phoned up yesterday (the 18th) and was told the modifying agreement was sent on the 12th, even if it was sent first class that is cutting it fine for 10 days. As it is it has now been 16 days and I still have no agreement to sign =S

Worst still my statement date is around the 21st so if I have to wait for my next statement date (aprox 21st November) to change my card over then my anniversary month will start 21 December i.e. too late for Christmas shopping.

  • To clarify:

Your annual statement will be produced on the 13th month of your account being open. This will also be the 2nd time that you receive your annual fee and the first time you receive your cash back credit. On month 14 you will receive a cashback booster to 4%.

If you would like to benefit from the cashback boosters of 6% and 4% in January 2013 & 2014 you should apply for the new card in December 2012.
Then the T&C are misleading because that's not what they say.

Cashback Year = 12 monthly Statement Periods (approx. 1 calendar year)
Annual Statement = monthly credit card statement which is sent to you following the end of the Cashback Year
Anniversary Bonus period = Statement Period following the Annual Statement

So the Annual Statement should be the one sent at the end of the 12th monthly Statement Period, which would make it the 12th statement not the 13th statement.
New purchases made during the 13th Statement Period, which would be shown on the 13th monthly statement, should qualify for the anniversary bonus.

I don't think that people who currently hold the Goldfish Barclaycard will receive the £30 worth of bonus points on offer to other customers who transfer to Freedom Rewards card

These customers are already being transferred to the Freedom Rewards card and the information provided to affected customers does not mention these bonus points

In this scenario everyone with a Goldfish Barclaycard would be falling over themselves to instigate a transfer to the Freedom Rewards card in order to receive the points which are not available to those who wait for the planned migration

I suspect that is the reason that transfer requests are being declined and the Barclaycard Rep has avoided mentioning the bonus points in his replies

I suspect that you will get the card but without the bonus points

If that's the case, the information being given is misleading, as the Official Representative in this forum states the oposite.

Yes - this is what I suggested as being my understanding.
The Barclaycard representative then said "Your calculations are completely correct", but then went on to contradict it in their clarification explanation.

I think I'll stick to my original plan of applying in November, rather than their advice which suggested "you should apply for the new card in December 2012.".

I renew my annual travel ticket between 21-31 December, just before the annual price rise. I also want to make sure this falls in the anniversary month each year. I plan to apply around 10 December if the offer is still running but if I believe the rep. I should bring that forward a month to 10 Nov.

I think I will stick to my original plan and keep a copy of the cashback T&C in case I need to submit a complaint in the future.
