so easy i wrote a letter to the bank dated 01/05/07 sent it recorded delivery and 7 days later on 08/05/07 a letter from the bank offering 1640.00. which will be payed into my account. well worth it!!0 -
Hi, i sent the standard letter wanting a refund of my unlawful overdraft charges from last year to Alliance and Leicester.
The first letter did not give the successful outcome, but the second letter threatening court proceedings, did work. :j
Very greatful to Moneysavingexpert for guiding me with the letters and for helping me gain a positive outcome. :beer:
Alliance Leicester refunded me in full into my bank account only 2 weeks after they received my first letter discussing the situation, very impressed. :rotfl: :T0 -

I am going to accept as they have been really quick 1st letter sent requesting charges on the 18th April and received offered today.
I am also claiming from rbs for 3 accounts still waiting to hear from them they have told me they have got till 22nd May I thought I might aswell wait as it would cost me to take them to court.

They Paid : £1,052.00
Used the templates provided. Bank responded saying they were looking into the matter. Gave them time to come up with a compromise but nothing received. Logged matter with Money Claim at a cost of £80. Received acknowledgement that they intended to defend. Received cheque for full amount one week later!!
Have now received a letter from RBS offering £580 in response to my original
letter !!!! Just shows its worth sticking it out!!0 -

I started my claim at the end of Jan this year and used all the template letters from this site, also asked for interest. Got to the stage where I threatened court action and they were still delaying so I put my claim into the hands of the Financial Ombudsman Service who received an offer from the Bank with 3 weeks. Absolutely Delighted folks.0 -

I started my claim on 2 Jan 07. First offer they made was £1,985 on 17 Jan, declined and they made a 2nd offer of £2,336 on 31 Jan. Filed my claim with MCO on 8 Feb. They defended on day 26, I completed the AQ and have been waiting for 6 weeks for a court date.
On Saturday I received a letter from DG Solicitors offering me the full amount (less 2 o/d fees I had made which had now passed the 6 year date).
Feels a long time coming, but worth it. Thank you to Martin and for everybody's posts.0 -
Have already posted a success with Lloyds (current account) for a family member. For some reason, they were holding out though on the Credit Card charges and we were awaiting our Small Claims hearing next week. Letter this morning from the Solicitors offering refund of the £160 claimed plus £30 court fees.

Amount Reclaimed: £1,603.50,.(£1,863.82 incl Interest)
Amount they will be paying:£1,543.50
The story: Wrote to the bank on 16th April requesting total of £1,863.82 (incl interest), they replied on April 23rd disputing the claim and offered me £1,260. Wrote back immediately refusing to accept and that I would take it court, they replied offering me £1,543, they said that the interest would only be payable if it had gone to court, and that one payment of £60 had already been repaid to my account. Just waiting for the payment to go into my account. YIPPEE!! It was worth writing two letters, THANK YOU Martin.0 -
