    Amount reclaimed - £110
    Amount they paid - £110
Just a small amount but infuriating given that it was the first time overdrawn in 15yrs and for being £100 overdrawn for 6 days when I thought there was a £100 OD buffer.Just took a few determined but polite phonecalls for them to see reason. Feels great though!! Power to the people and all that!!

    Hi,

    Just started my voyage into the world of 'reclamation of bank charges', i have sent off a letter to both RBS and Halifax, before doing so i spoke to each, and explained the situation. RBS were very hush hush about it and claimed, quote;
Well you can send a letter in if you want but i doubt anything will happen, i've not heard of anyone completing or winning a claim

We'll see about that, i think RBS stands at £500ish, awaiting statements.

Halifax on the other hand, were very proffesional about it, fully upto speed about it and even gave me the full process as how to claim, basically word for word off Martins front page ad!!

That stands at again, £500 ish and i am awaiting a response.

    I'll post as i know.

    Thanks for the info MSE.com:p

Filed a Claim following Martin's step-by-step guide, the last we heard the bank had entered a defence....cheque arrived this morning for £255. Couldn't be happier.

If you're put off because you think it takes time and effort....it really doesn't and it's worth it in the end. this couldn't have been easier!

    Barclays next....

    Amount Claimed: HSBC Was £1900.50
    Now with added 8% Interest = £2483.25
Oh plus 55p a day in further interest.

Well the postman arrived this morning.....was he carrying an offer from HSBC??? No! So no more itchy fingers I hit the submit button paid my £120 claim fee and now sit back and countdown the days.
Why is it banks think you wont take it any further? I think its because they think many people just cant afford the claim fee.
    Anyway Im just waiting now

Claimed £1192.50 in charges, £188.54 interest, £120 court costs.
Paid in full, also cancelled charges due to come onto account with next statement.:j
Unfortunately the account will be closed on November 13th as a result of having to issue a court claim against them. At least the overdraft's been cleared now!

Amount claimed - £174 including the £30 court fees
    Amount paid - £174
Story - I knew from reading other threads that it was generally necessary to actually go through with the court process before they coughed up and sure enough that was true. They wrote to me and asked me for the basis of my claim - bit puzzling when I used the letters provided on this site and spelt it out for them. Of course their payment to me shoudl not be regarded as an admission of liability. They got me so annoyed that I went back through the years and now plan to go back to court to get the other £100 they've charged me in the past.
My advice to other 'customers' is don't give up.
  • Bank: Barclays

Amount claimed: £ 458.02 (including interest & court fee)

    Amount paid: £ 458.00 (I let them keep the 2 p )

Story: Full settlement less than 48 hours before court hearing. They wanted confidentiality, I said no. They caved. As usual.

From 1st letter to settlement, 7 months.

They plonked another 2 charges during those 7 months and wouldn't add them to the settlement, so starting all over again...

hi another sucess, only £38 for an unpaid direct debit charge (which I was disputing anyway as it should have been paid as I had the correct funds in my account, but thats irrelevant now) Natwest put up no fight. Thanks. :)

Only problem is getting the money back, my letter states the money will be showing in my account last Friday but it isn't there yet :(
