just called and got told the offer stopped running on Sunday
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2246055Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

I am moving into a new build - so no previous line installed.
BT wanted to charge me the full £124.99.
I mentioned the details that I read about on this forum and the person went off to "speak to his manager". Came back and said there was an offer on that would allow me free connection.
I had to sign up for 18 months, and agree to make a minimum of 10 chargeable calls per month, but there is no installation/connection fee.
I also had to point out that I was part way through a 12 month contract, and they have waived the cancellation fee for that contract as I am taking a new contract - but I had to ask.....0 -
Hi All,
Does anyone know who the new BT Company Rep is? I had a call from John and he said he was moving on to a new team and I have not heard back from BT Care email address

You have been misinformed. I have just placed an order and got free connection on the £11.54 unlimited weekend plan. I had to ring THREE times though and get put through to different departments before I could get it.
Here's what I had to do, I hope this helps:
1. Ring 0800 800 030
2. When you finally get through to someone, ask straight away to be put through to the "customer options" team
3. When you get through to the department, say you would like a new phone line and are interested in the free connection offer you have seen on their website (it's on this page right at the bottom, expires 16th Feb 2010): calls.bt.com/ppc/callpackages/?keyword=bt&s_cid=con_ppc_zedmedia_vidSE7_Calls%20and%20Lines&vendorid=SE7
It's worked for me 10 minutes ago, and this is after being told TWICE that there was no way I could get free connection unless I signed up for Broadband and/or BT Vision!!0 -
Thanks for that LINK, Markymids.
The text was obviously written in a hurry (the vital word 'charge' or 'fee' has been forgotten) but I think they can still be held to it as it doesn't make sense without one or other. No connection charge/fee offer improved and extended until 16th February 2010. Available to eligible new customers who agree to take the Unlimited Weekend Plan (£11.54 monthly line rental) for 18 months, and make at least 10 chargeable or inclusive calls per month. Otherwise, you'll need to pay compensation charges of £6.80 for every month that that you don't make these calls. Monthly prices quoted are with payment by Direct Debit and paper-free billing. Standard connection charge £124.99. Conditions apply.
Available to eligible new and existing residential customers signing up to the Unlimited Weekend Plan on a 12 month minimum term. Terms and conditions apply.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Dear Stuart (and others)
If you want an install on a specific date dont rely on the BT view that you need to give them two weeks notice. I have given them over 3 and still not got the two dates I wanted which has caused and is causing me no end of probs,
Also do you all know once BT can be bothered to install your line how long BBand takes from another provider?
