Ooer, many thanks for this, haven't updated my v4 since Nov last year (Spent ages compiling cwclient to run on Vista 64 too).
Am switching to Virgin in a couple of weeks so need to completely re-do all my numbers (especially making sure all 0845 numbers go through 18185's 0808 1 703 703 number)
haven't looked at your spread sheet yet but usually am good working things out.
Just to save my time if it's pointless, can I "redirect, pause, redirect, pause, dial actual number"?
To give you an example,
To dial a mobile going via 1pminute, dialing 0844 542 costs 7.82p per minute with Virgin.
To dial co-op caller plus on their 0800 number costs me nothing.
To dial 0844 542 from co-op caller plus costs 4.89 (thanks to stuart_w for pointing this out to me).
So if I dial the co-op, then from there dial 1pminute, my call to a mobile should be 4.89p per min
So if I dial various mobile numbers, I would want the dialer to do the following
1) Dial co-op caller plus, 0800 781 xxx
2) Pause to allow to connect
3) Dial 1pminute on 0844 542 xxx
4) Pause to allow to connect
5) Dial actual mobile number I dialed on the phone
Is that feasible or am I asking too much

Can't be done - too many digits for the Orchid to handle [you'd have to program a 32 character carrier (08001234567#####08441234567#####) and then the Orchid would allow through the 11 digits of the mobile number you're calling].Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

As a result of 18185 spotting their error and increasing their charge for calling 0845 numbers from ½p/minute at all times via their freephone gateway number to 3p/minute at all times, Routing Rule 15 in Kevin's spreadsheet needs to be amended.
The revised programming will route all 0845 calls via BT (Carrier Code 3, CPS override, 1280 prefix) at all times and result in charges of 2p/minute weekdays, ½p/minute weekday evenings and 0p/minute [inclusive] at weekends. Of course, BT's 'call set-up fee' (9.05p since 1-October-2009 and probably 9¼p from 1-January-2010) will also apply weekdays and weekday evenings.
For those wishing to manually program their Orchid dialler(s) using the keys on their telephone, the keying string is:*###0845#3333#15#Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I have updated the spreadsheet and posted the link on message 1 of this thread. I did notice that I had 2 unposted versions on the go, so can someone take a look and make sure I have not succumbed to any brain slips.
the new spreadsheet is available here0 -
Many thanks to both Kevin and Heinz for keeping us up to date with the best options for using the Orchid dialler.
May I ask what is almost certainly a dumb question?
On the spreadsheet I am struggling to understand the difference between dialling code number 0 (no routing?) and dialling code number 3 (1280 override)
These routing codes are used for night and weekend calls to 01 and 02 numbers.
My question is wouldn’t both routes result in the call being made through BT?0 -
No, if you have a CPS calls provider (at the start Primus Saver was recommended), 0 = Primus and 3 = 1280 (BT, CPS override).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Thanks, that makes sense.
So I assume that if you have only BT you don’t need to route through the 1280 override?
The 0 (no routing) is all that is required.0 -

Correct, but if you have BT without CPS then both routing code 0 and routing code 3 will go via BT. So there is no need to have a different version of the base spreadsheet for people without CPS.0 -
Great work guys, thank you.
I have an Orchid dialler with the BT weekend plan/Primus/18185. I use the "Heinz program" and updated it with the "force home" method shortly before Orchid decommissioned the server around February.
Is there a changelog or similar available so I can see what's changed since I updated it and apply the relevant updates with this new tool? I found one here but it has not been updated since March.
I have an old modem stored away somewhere but if the updates have not been significant so far I might just leave it as it is for now.
Thanks.0 -

In fact, there had been none since the minor changes just before the server went offline and so the*###0845#3333#15# update of Routing Rule 15 detailed in post #166 above (which Kevin has now incorporated into Version 1.7 of his spreadsheet in Post #1 of this thread) is, in effect, the log.
