I'll keep an eye on this thread for changes from now on.
In fact, that has reminded me to post on that old thread one last time - so those subscribed to it can substitute a subscription to this thread if they wish.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
As others have also said, many thanks to both Heinz and Kevin Lawry for updating this. It's also good to note, if I read it correctly, that both the updates and information from Heinz will be posted on this site in future.0

Certainly from my point of view, the program was written to support the members of this site and so I have no intention of posting updates anywhere else but here. So, for as long as I am able to support the program this is the place to come0

:-) yes, you are probably right - still, I think you can make the same swap in my reply and it will still be about right!0

To Heinz in particular (or anybody else who has views on the most appropriate CPS):
On 18 September Heinz replied to a question stating
"No, if you have a CPS calls provider (at the start Primus Saver was recommended), 0 = Primus and 3 = 1280 (BT, CPS override)".
The comment "at the start Primus Saver was recommended" would imply that this is not necessarily the case now. Could you enlighten me on this point please; I am still with Primus as my CPS (as recommended on this site, or thread, some time ago) and wonder whether any significant changes have occurred to make me consider reverting back to BT as my CPS.
Thanks0 -

Could you enlighten me on this point please; I am still with Primus as my CPS (as recommended on this site, or thread, some time ago) and wonder whether any significant changes have occurred to make me consider reverting back to BT as my CPS.For reasons I cannot understand, Primus's Indian Call Centre personnel continue to deny all knowledge of Penny Mobile 2 CPS and even suggest that Primus Saver CPS requires an 18 month contract. I sought written clarification from them on 21 February 2009 but none has been forthcoming despite many months now having passed. As a result, for those who are not already on Primus Saver CPS or their similar Penny Mobile 2 CPS package, I have no option but to recommend BT's Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan via a 'renewable' 12 month contract instead - rather than attempting to get sense out of Primus's India-based personnel.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Thanks Heinz; I'll stay with Primus as my CPS.0

For those wishing to manually program their Orchid dialler(s) using the keys on their telephone, the keying string is:*###0845#3333#15#
I've been trying to update my dialler with the above string but my 0845 calls are still being routed through 18185's freefone gateway number. I'm testing using the HSBC number 08457404404.
I've tried both a DECT and wired phone directly connected to the Orchid.
I figured that my Orchid might be set to managed mode so I dialled **#0000*0*8. Still no luck.
I've also updated the clock just in case.
Might try the modem method but I don't think it will make a difference as the same key tones would be sent to the Orchid.
Any ideas? The Orchid's routing works perfectly at present (last updated with Orchid's server in February).
Thanks.0
