Hi guys - I thought this might be the most appropriate place to post this I know it kind of breaks the rules but I thought its in the spirit of the site so why not
I have an Orchid V4 PLUS that I am about to chuck in the bin. Anyone is welcome to have it if they are prepared to cover the cost of postage (a couple of quid maybe??). Just that I would rather see it going to use than thrown in the bin!
Send me a PM if you are intrested - if a moderator wants to delete it then thats fair enough

Help please
Carrier code 5 (08081703703). When I use this the 0845 number connects immediately and then there are a lot more tones sent which negates the connection.
Carier code 27 (old dir enq) returns an announcement which says number not recognised.
Why do I need rule 28 as I am on BT as my carrier and surely 999 would go straight through?
Generally how can I delete a rule that's already in the Orchid dialler
Your help appreciated.0 -
Carrier code 5 - that is quite normal. You dial your 0845 number and the V4 dials 08081703703, waits 5 seconds (sufficient time to allow the automatic announement to start) and then re-dials your 0845 number (that's the second set of tones you hear). You will hear "Half a p per minute" after the second set of tones if you have the tariff announcement switched on. If you just wait, it works perfectly (well, it did for my wife last week).
Routing code 27 (Carrier code 4) - 0800100100 didn't last long and now just returns a "This number is temporarily out of service due to necessary system upgrades. If you want a number, you can call our sister company 118911" message. 0800100100 may have been a scam from the start (I doubt that because the number is still operational so is still costing them money) but whether it will return is anybody's guess at the moment.
If you don't have internet access, the least-expensive 118 service is still 118226 (Carrier code 2). Routing code 22 translates the dialling of 118xxx to 118226.
Routing code 28 is the only Exception rule and is designed to force a 999 call via your default carrier. You are probably right that 999 would go through even if Routing code 28 was missing but it was part of Orchid's original (and now much-altered) program so I'm inclined to just leave it (it's not as if there's a shortage of Routing code spaces).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. There's a link to Kevin's Excel table in post #1 of this thread.
Column M therein shows what needs to be keyed (if you are happy with the Carrier codes and Routing codes) but, if you want/need to make changes, you enter your new values in the other rows/columns and column M gets updated automatically
A few questions re the routing table:
i/ which code stands for Primus evening /weekend calls?
ii/ is it required to put the 2 programming codes in?
Apologies if this sounds a bit odd, but this is my first time at trying this. Haven't updated my dialler since before CW Client went offline0 -

ii/. You lost me there. Do you mean Carrier code 2 (columns A, B, C & D, Row 6 - which is associated with Routing code 22)? If so, yes, Carrier code 2 is vital because 1280#118226 is the number which the Orchid will dial when an attempt is made to dial 118xxx (i.e. 118 anything, anything, anything).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I've just updated my Orchid diallers using the fabulous spreadsheet and a variation of the meticulously researched Heinz recommendations. I am so relieved to have this process under my control and not via that awful system using CW Client.
Thanks again to you both.
When dialling I got the usual bleep blop bleep sounds until it got to rules 27 and 28 when the sounds disappeared. I tried sending each rule singly and the dialog box opened and then closed but no sound emerged. Same on second box. Is this to be expected?
I have the same problem with Excel dialler tool every thing is working great dialing the routing table until around lines 27 - 32 then the modem tones stop and nothing seems to be being dialled into the Orchid box.
I am using a Lenovo laptop with an internal Agere soft modem.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
thanks.0 -
i/. Primus (or another CPS calls profider giving free evening and weekend calls or BT Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan) is the default carrier. Hence, it is Carrier 0 (zero) and does not show in the programming table.
ii/. You lost me there. Do you mean Carrier code 2 (columns A, B, C & D, Row 6 - which is associated with Routing code 22)? I mean there are two programme codes on the excel sheet. Do both need to be manually keyed in?0 -
If you don't have an analogue modem, manually keying all the (more than 30) programming codes will be necessary.
Of course, you'll have to make the appropriate changes to the 'My Area Code' and 'Current Time' strings when doing so.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Thanks very much Kevin and Heinz for all your efforts in keeping the Orchid LCR diallers going.
Yesterday, I used your spreadsheet programme (amended for my own requirements), in Vista with a USB SoundBlaster modem. All works fine and I agree, the process is easier to use than the old CW Client. I found that the old call backs didn't always update the LCR.
Thanks,
Mick..0
