After you've entered those details, does column M, row 9 (your Routing code 05) now show:

    *###077#3222#05#

If it does, the only reason I can think calls would fail would be the 'enter the international code' part you mention. That would require you to enter the number you're dialling in international format (i.e. 00447712345678) and the problem there is the UK mobile's leading zero has to be dropped.

If you're dialling the number normally, adding the 0044 part to your Carrier 02 (i.e. making it
08717597030#####0044 [if you can enter that number of characters]) wouldn't help because your dialling would add the leading zero).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Cell M9 was as you stated.

Thank you for confirming what I had partly quessed. I have manually dialled all the 7p and 6p numbers on the uk callchecker for mobiles (excluding the two in blue). Results as below

did not work without entering international code E.g 00447712345678
    08717597030 1pminute
    08717790505 05 Pence
    08717598020 Abroad call
    08717796040 4CheapCalling

    Worked
    08717727272 PhoneCheap
    08717727171 DiscountDial
    08717724040 0844 Calls

I am now using phonecheap which works fine with the V4 dialler.

Thanks Kevin for developing this spreadsheet. I bought an old PCI modem off Ebay for £2 and the spreadsheet is working fine. It's a lot easier to use than CWClient used to be.

I have two Orchid V4 diallers and I think they are great. As BT in its magnanimity deigned to give me free weekend 084 and 087 calls I thought I would update my routing tables via CW Client but can't connect. I checked everything and still can't conect so I thought of you clever people on this Forum.
I can already see that I'm not alone in having problems so is there a page or guide that will tell me what to do and how to do it please?
    I will apreciate your help.
  • CW client has been discontinued - you will never be able to connect again. You can program the unit by hand by keying in the programming strings, or you can use a modem and the spreadsheet that this thread supports.

Go to the start of this thread, download the program, and read the previous posts which cover almost all of the potential problems you may experience in using it

Fantastic work, Kevin thanks a million for helping people keep their Orchid Boxes usable. People like you make MSE forums what it is.

I have read all the posts in this thread but nowhere can I find any mention of the lead required to connect the modem to the Orchid dialler. I assume it should be a 4 wire RJ11 to BT plug. Please confirm. Thanks. I said it was stupid!
Thanks to Kevin and Heinz for all their hard work.

You are correct (I just plug into the spare socket in the side of the Orchid).

I've just updated my Orchid diallers using the fabulous spreadsheet and a variation of the meticulously researched Heinz recommendations. I am so relieved to have this process under my control and not via that awful system using CW Client.
    Thanks again to you both.
When dialling I got the usual bleep blop bleep sounds until it got to rules 27 and 28 when the sounds disappeared. I tried sending each rule singly and the dialog box opened and then closed but no sound emerged. Same on second box. Is this to be expected?

can you tell me where to find details of this please. I don't want to use a modem.
