this deal looks good but I have few questions.
If i sign up for the deal with TT
am I allowed to put calls through another provider?
mse martin says not to sign up for other firms line rental deals as it stops you doing this - and I need to use conference calls alot
also - if I want to get out of the 18mth contract at any point - whats it going to cost me???
Also - sods law means a better deal will come along shortly - as TT are not the biggest fish in the pond - wont BT offer a better deal?
especaially as the ofcom rules are now to be dropped.
Ive already got a modem-router so I dont need a new modem, why should I pay £30 quid connection fee??? can I get thsi reduced???
Finally - a teenage dead head in my household plays the geeky game Everquest for 4 to 8 hours a day,
has anyone any idea how much bandwith this actually uses per month???
Gnever take advice from broke or unsuccessful people

I think that'll be £10 per SIM card, per month0 -

Yes we use 1 sim card for my daughter at uni, it means she can ring us for free and her grandmother as well as we all use TT, and it is £10 per sim card. The deal is from her TT mobile she can call any TT landline phone for free, and the designated TT landline i.e. us, can ring her free. We did run into a bit of a problem as we were using it about 40mins per day. My daughter was very home sick and just wanted to talk, and CPW sent us a letter saying we were using it too much and we were stopping others from using the service. They say they were going to stop our service, but then relented and said the letter was sent in error. I pointed out to them that they advertised as a "Unlimited" usage!! Huhhh, small print, TT decide what is fair usage, so basically it is not unlimited, however we now use it approx 20mins per day and they seem happy with that.
By the way the £10 is taken from the main billing account, but is used to "topup" the sim card as it is payg. So every month she has credit to use. Also call charges are 15p/min "ALL" calls, and 7p per text. The only trouble is, it uses the "Fresh" network, which means you cannot always get coverage.
It has saved us a small fortune in mobile calls, and my daughter has an easy and cheap way to call home.
I use TT for calls only, I use BT for landline, and 18185 for charged calls.
Hope that makes sense.

See my post a few lines up.
Martin says this as only BT have to allow you to do this TT do at the moment but can quite legally pull the plug if they want where BT legally have to allow you to use these services, however a lot of people may not need other carriers with this deal.
Due to what I currently pay it would take years to recoupe the £29 setup fee and I would be paying more to phone abroad if they pulled the use of other providers.
On top of all that even if I did think it would oneday pay my exchange is not unbundled and my current ISP charge to release my MAC number (think thats what its called, it allows you to move your broadband supplier)..0 -

G
I already have broadband with talk talk and e-mailed them asking if I would still have to pay the 30.00 connection fee if I signed up for this new deal, this was their reply.....
I would like to inform you that all customers do have to pay the £30 connection fee as we do have to fit a new set of wires in order to enable the Broadband set up to be available.0 -

Your ISP can't charge to release your MAC they should only be charging you for any contract period you haven't completed. MACs are free to generate.
TT will I imagine not be allowing anyone to use CPS services through them, they are hoping to make money on your calls.
Connection fee is as levied on them by BT, they aren't profiteering by charging this.0 -
I'm currently with Telewest and I'm considering taking this offer up with Talk Talk, but it says you must have a BT landline to take advantage of it and it's not available to cable customers.
I've still got the BT landline in my property as I was with them before, so it should just be a case of reactivating it at the exchange. Can anyone confirm if this is the case?0 -
Shelle wrote:To those CPW employees, can I just confirm the following:
I am deaf in a hearing household, and sometimes I use make calls via my minicom/textphone. When I make calls, they go through BT as TT does not have the facility. Therefore my calls are on the BT bill and not TT. If we switch over to the new Broadband/int3 plan (we already are talk talk customers), does this cause a problem for my minicom calls, or do they simply get listed on the combined bill?
Hoping you know the answer to this, as we are very interested in the deal!
Shelle, I have passed your question on to the MSE Team to see if we can get an answer to this. It seems to me that it wouldn't be possible as once you transfer your line rental to TalkTalk you will no longer get a bill from BT however hopefully we can get a definative answer.0 -
Hi folks,
Just to say that of course Im looking into this. At the moment I have confirmed that override numbers can be dialled through the service, but not yet confirmed that it will charge them at BT prices. It's going to be about 8 to 10 days before i can produce a full article including the new tariff - once all the info comes in

£30.99 per month is only about £7 more than similar service costs me at the moment. Even if they introduced the "free" product in my area, by the time the connect fee is included, and if they restricted some calls, there would be hardly any saving in 18 months.0
