OS sources of veggie-friendly EFAs
Is there an easier and cheap(ish) way to get essential fatty acids in a Veggie OS diet? Can I just check that they're the same as Omegas?! I tried flax powder, but it's yucky and expensive. Plus I've read consuming it through the day is better than one dose.

Reducing refined products in diet
Any tips? I'm hoping it might help my adult acne if I reduce the amount of refined foods I eat. Can you tell me what I should avoid? I'm veggie (no flesh, just eggs and dairy). I do my own cooking a lot, but I'm sure I can improve.

We've been storing a 13 tog synthetic duvet in a built in wardrobe and have just discovered that it's started to go mouldy where it was touching the outside wall. I've read the threads about getting rid of mould (lemon, vinegar, bicarb etc.) and also the threads about washing duvets/getting them washed at laundrette/dry…

Sour Cream to Thicken Red Wine Sauce?
Hi, I recently tried a Lamb and Red wine sauce in the SC. It was nice but the sauce abit watery! I've been trying to research what I can use to thicken the sauce and the only thing I can find it sour cream? Would this be okay to add before serving so it doesn't boil?

Ooooohhh have icky insect problem! In my bathroom are (thankfully just the odd 1 or 2 at a time) insect cocoons. They are the size and colour (dark blue!) of a tuft of my carpet which is what I thought they were at first, although thought it odd as they are attached to the wall or ceiling! Inside is a little grubby…

Made bread from flour from our local windmill
Thought I would buy some flour from Skidby Mill our local working windmill. It was more expensive that supermarket flour at £1.70 for normal sized bag and it came in fine or coarse but cheaper than I had suspected and still value for money IMO. I choose fine. I mixed the flour with 1/3 white flour as I find totally…

Any tips on ow to clean a bird bath?
I usually just clean my bird bath once a week/fortnight with a hard scrubing brush and plain water (not sure of what is and isn't toxic to the birds so just use plain water at the moment) and that usually gets rid of all the slimy green algae that tends to build up. However, I have been away for a couple of months and when…

Freezing beef cooked in the slow cooker
Using my new slow cooker - again! Great buy and really pleased, especially as I had a few joints of meat lurking in the freezer. My question is - what's the best way to freeze cooked beef. Rather than be eating it all week would rather freeze the rest for another time. Is it best sliced? And does it have to be in gravy?…
