Probably impossible question????
Hi I want to take a year off work to re-train. I have £15,000 which is the same as my annual salary. I'd like to put this money somewhere that will generate £900 a month for me to live off? Am I living in cloud cuckoo land or is this a possible idea? I would only want to do this for hopefully a year, by the end of the…

AA 3year fixed rate account
You are currently listing this account as a best buy (purely on the interest rate) I opened an account and began transferring money in on the website. I inadvertantly made a deposit for 3 days time and realised I had made an error. No problem, the 'pending' transactions paragraph assured me that if I phoned the helpline…

Basic Savings Question
I know this is going to be a little small time compared to most of the other threads I've seen posted, but the truth is I am clueless about saving and would really be interested in what advice you can offer, so if I am just asking a daft question please bear with me. So my situation is simple, I'm not really making much…

How will the increased compensation limit influence your savings strategy?
Will anybody be consolidating their savings into bigger chunks up to the new Euro 100.000 limit in January to save hassle, or leaving it where it is if it's on instant access? Do you think the banks and building societies will be offering more competitive rates to encourage bigger deposits?

Undated Gilts as alternative to low interest Savings Accounts
I see that today's price of 2 1/2% Consolidated Stock is 58.79p. Yield is 4.25% gross. As is the way of gilts, presumably any fall in the 'coupon' would be compensated for by a rise in the capital value. Whilst investing in 'Consols' might sound very old-fashioned, positively Victorian/Edwardian in fact, few easily…
