    Thanks for that.

I kind of new I would have to pay it back, which is fine cos I didn't really know how the system worked I thought the money they gave you was to help out and what you was entitled to cos it's gets paid together with child tax credit didn't bat an eyelid on how you break it down. What am concerned with is how tax credits deal with you wen u report change of circumstances here, here I changed child care provider, reported overpayment meaning that they had something different on There system? Single mum, 2 kids, award over 8,500. All of these changes done altogerther more or less. It's the hassel, the interigation and me gathering all the info just in case I need to send it in. I have no reciepts for childcare, as the type of work I do varies week by week so how much childcare I spend depends on my rota! My p60 is fine, wages reflect my low income and tallies in with my hours. Really all of this worry and the FACT that how you be dealt with depends on Really how nice the advisor was on the other line!!!!!!!!! I have enough family problems as it is, this Thames the biscuit. Will keep u all posted!!!!

OK, just to clarify... Tax Credit Office are NOT asking for further details from EVERYONE who has been asked to renew via the Specialist Renewals team.

If you have renewed by post or through the main Tax Credit helpline then you will still need to complete the Specialist Renewals process. The Specialist Renewals team will attempt to call you if you have renewed in this way, and if unable to contact you they will issue you with a letter asking for further details, if they are unable to verify all of your award details using the systems available to them.

Taxcredithelp - are you able to help me please? I did NOT get a letter from the Specialist Renewals team so renewed via the main number - however my claim has dropped onto a worklist to be dealt with manually - it has been nearly 3 weeks now and it is just pending. Do you know why this would be? I have phoned and asked and they say there is no note for me to call specialist team and I should just wait. Do you know what could be going on? My claim is over 8.5k and I do claim childcare.

    Thanks

    Borgie,

Your renewal dropping on to a worklist to be worked manually is nothing to worry about.
It happens a lot at this time of year. Some cases it's just due to the volume of renewals being taken/received that they go onto a worklist when the system can't process them.

Other reasons can range from having no taxable income (IE being on benefits) to the renewal being inhibited, meaning it cannot be processed by the system so has to be done manually.

it really is nothing to worry about. Generally speaking they should only take a few days to process, but as stated, due to volume of renewals being dealt with this can increase to a number of weeks!

I rang the Main number - my case does not appear to have been passed to the specialist team. It does however have to be checked manually and is currently on a work list. I am fully expecting to have to provide proof of things but have not heard yet. Let me know how you get in when you phone. Thanks

I don't think it means it is being checked for fraud but you may well have to provide proof of childcare - receipts etc from what is being put on these boards by others who have been asked for similar.
