  • Yeah, i would have thought so. I cant think of anything else that hasnt been mentioned that could be "wages" but not on the p60.

Thats what i dont understand my total income is shown on p60 so why would they need 12 wage slips? It could be to check we are working the hours we told them each week but i dont keep wage slips i have a few but no were near 52 weeks worth. They could of told us to keep all receipts and wage slips last year and maybe we would have them. I dnt keep childcare receipts either i have a couple but not for full year. As anyone requested copies of receipts frm childcare?

OK, just to clarify... Tax Credit Office are NOT asking for further details from EVERYONE who has been asked to renew via the Specialist Renewals team.

If you have renewed by post or through the main Tax Credit helpline then you will still need to complete the Specialist Renewals process. The Specialist Renewals team will attempt to call you if you have renewed in this way, and if unable to contact you they will issue you with a letter asking for further details, if they are unable to verify all of your award details using the systems available to them.

There are also instances where Tax Credit Office will need to double check the information you've provided. This may be because the details you provided conflict with the information held on the Tax Credit system, or just to check the information we've received is correct and to give further advice, for example if declared income appears to be less than the legal minimum wage.

In the circumstance where you have received the letter and it says "User to select one or more of the following options", this is not for you to select, this is an internal line which should have been removed by the adviser before they issued the letter. You should send back all subsequent documents asked for.

If you have been sent one of these letters, you will have 30 days from the date of issue to return the information to Tax Credit Office. If you need a little longer, call the Specialist Renewals team and let them know. The main Tax Credit Helpline will be unable to assist you with this and the relevant documents will be required... the information cannot be submitted by phone. If you are concerned that the information held by Tax Credit Office is incorrect as a result of your renewal please call the relevant Specialist Renewals team number and let them know.

    Hope this helps.

Yes that information is very helpful thanks for that.
What should I do now though, I dont have my wage slips, but I have my p60, the specialist team have asked for both, would the p60 be enough information as it has it all earnings for the year??
  • Your P60 should suffice but if you've changed jobs during the year then any P45 would be beneficial as well. P60 income details should be sufficient for Tax Credit Office to be able to finalise your award for 2009/2010 and renew your Tax Credit payments for this year.

Taxcredithelp I renewed via post as I was unable to contact the specialist team. I sent a covering letter explaining why I renewed via post and explaining I couldn't get hold of the specialist team. I gave my full contact details ie home and mobile phone numbers.

Should I await the call for the team, which I was fully expecting anyway, or is it worth trying again to contact them?

A side point for anyone who is worried about tax credits phoning them. My other half was made redundant a couple of years back whilst still on maternity leave. We received a call from tax credits regarding it and they were helpful and very pleasant. I know it's a shock to receive a call from them but they are only doing their job and trying to avoid the massive overpayments many had in the fledgling years of the scheme.

When you renew via post your renewal form is usually scanned by computer but if you include any kind of attachment these need to be reviewed seperately as the machine reader is only designed to scan the renewal forms. I would advise calling the Specialist Renewals Team again and they'll help you to complete your renewal over the phone and check your award details are correct. This should prevent you from receiving a follow up letter askign for further details.

Taxcredithelp - some people received letters from tax credits asking them to give them a ring to ensure they were gettin the correct amount of money .

This letter as far as i am aware is not the same as the specialist renewal team is that right ?

The reason i ask is that i got a letter like this a few months ago , it was just asking me "are you receiving the right amount of tax credits? , give us a call to make sure we hold the correct details as incorrect details could lead to an over/underpayment".

No the number which was on this letter . when i rung it , it just rang and rang . After tryin for a few days i got no answer and just stopped trying!

What was this letter all about ? It stated "paul gerard customer compliance" at the bottom ?

    Surely customer compliance means fraud?

I have since went on to renew and receive my new payments but this thread had reminded me about this letter

To taxcreditshelp, I take it for those people who have renewed over the main help line as normal without recieving a letter from the specialist team will recieve a phone call or letter from the specailist team regardless asking for more info! Is that what you are saying! If this is the case, should hmrc of conducted the renewal process in one simple way which would apply to everyone regardless of the size of award or circumstance it would of been alot more fairer and people would of taken it alot more better knowing that everyone else is being treated the same. I bet most of the clamates you sent specialist letters felt they were personally being targeted. Please could you confirm that?
