and BoP's legs have gone. Oh, sooo romantic. Where's the Doctor!0 -
Pleasures for yesterday (Saturday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had lunch at my favourite caf! in Hereford.
3) Cathedral looking lovely as ever.
4) Then had a drive around and ended up in Malvern. Went to Waitrose (thought of Ampersand and BoP!) for vinegar etc.
5) Off to Harvest Supper in mum and dad's village hall. 2 social faux pas not made by me, for a change. Getting in my car, some man screeched to a halt behind me in a Land Rover and blocked me in. (It was quite dark). He jumped out and said "hello". So I said "hello" and started putting harvest supper stuff in my car, thinking he would take the hint and move. "Ain't you going to speak to me?" said now rather creepy man. I ignored this. He said it again and I said "No, because I don't know who you are". He said "Yes, you do. You're Nick, Nicola aren't you?" "No", I said and got a lot of apologies and man moving his car very hurriedly indeed!
At the harvest supper, mum's friend came over to me and said, beaming "Oh, I've seen the lovely photos of your wedding". Cue blank look from me. "Your mum showed them to me, it looked wonderful, did you have a great day?" I thought this was very odd as I've been divorced 10 years! Then I realised she meant my sister (sitting further along the table. She looks nothing like me with pale eyes and blonde hair!!) I said it was my sister and mum's friend nearly fell over in embarrassment!
6) Back home quite late to watch Casualty on iplayer.0 -
Good afternoon all !

5 for today
1. Steak mushroom and ale pie doing its thing in slow cooker . Not ale really but some espresso stout that OH won in a raffle thats just past its best before date .
2. Used the left over pastry from the pie tops to make some cheese straws. Which were supposed to be for my colleagues but we have eaten them all !
3. Got the tiny terrier (Mum's)asleep under my arm as I type and my not so terrier is under OH's arm asleep on the sofa.
4. Hens have laid 3 eggs today which is more than the usual at the moment- due to moult , time of year and age
5.Knowing that my store cupboard , fridge and freezer are heaving . As this time of year is for nesting and comfort food .
have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Well it's clear to me we need to put out another MIA call...this time ccp, provided Isis hasn't sloped off in fear of yet another newbie on her tentative block i.e. Finn[and sibling]. She's come to know Raffles, all OK-ish, but where are you now? Hope all is well.

1. Just back from great Communion, Church full, which suited well as the '2 years here' card for Vic was signed up and down pews, by chance visitors et al...explained it was a snapshot of this happy day, so of course they could must sign:-)
2. Back to Spits Thurs - 26hr day - back here just before 0400h, mainly 'cos a wonderful expectant couple, he Italian and adoring of she, English, pre-Raphaelite hair and Earth Mother, older/steadier, came upon & in midst of packing up. Such beautiful people in their visible, quiet, rock-solid aura of completeness/coupledom, burgeoning babe - older 1st-time parents to be, prizing this and each other. Also, just accept, despite &'s volubility, it was not mawkish. The handsome multi-£00's end-of-day sale was unbelievable - was so glad I could then gift somethings exNZ perfect for baby[crocheted shearling bootie/slippers], also for each parent.
3. Happy Banking done Friday.
4. Various matters, but took self deliberately to catharis footie hier[superior OVAL shape, although Vicky may be thinking 'not superior for some atm'...] Again, miraculous passage of late Indian yellow thing[did you forget to pack it for your sortie, bop? or doesn't it funxction oopnorf? - not according to Monsieur M!t!o as just heard talking rain all over DD 'til Tuesday] A bit of We Wuz Robbed, but in fact we should have had easily 3 tries in 1st qtr, opportunities just thrown away. Final score Taunton Titans 28 Shelford 19

Ah well, blackberry functions away from &squat, so consoled self avec Toulon 23 - Ulster 13, home defeat.
5....and 5 fantastic orchids rtc £2 apiece in strict observation of No More Plants. ex Scotsdales dd, of course.
6. Late call to gay friends, for one of whom birthday bits were left a fortnight back, sans r!ponse... unheard of for them. Was just leaving a further note when down came P. In short, they were just back from Spain[2nd time in 8 wks]; P has taken early retirement, house bought! ; they're off for good Feb/March 0-).
It is wonderful and joyous news for them, esp. when & thinks how J was before P came into his Life.
& will have to travel over a thousand km further beyond her bits of France for our traditional birthday mahjong after this.
Just so, so good for them both. Real happiness and 2 lives saved every which way. This is good.

More to write but there we'll Sit and Stay for now. More to do this arvo.
Was baking for this morning until 0200, up again early to decorate - all good, it transpires.
Sod it, let's have no. 7[bop races to scrape his crystal set into sound] - was accompanied by this excellent, if darkish, thing on t'wireless - high finance skulduggery, investigative peeps, twists, turns, fall-outs, plausible.

I love that sales story Ampersand. I hope all goes well with their baby. My friend's first grandchild, little Emma Jane is due very soon.
Right, c'mon Andrea... PLEASURES...
1. Did not have a meltdown as I struggled down the roads to drop trike off at the shop , though a big wobble when my access was blocked by That Woman. I had read of mothers / grandmothers picking up children spaced out on substances and suspect this may have been the case. In a quiet small - town sidestreet police were hardly going to be evident, I can laugh about it now.
The hallway is spacious and empty of trike, I haven't seen it like this for seven or so years.
2. Jack's cookbook, reading through, planning recipes, so easy and so frugal /satisfying, just to read them you can see a tasty meal forming. 10 people like my 'River' review so far, which is very satisfying for me.
3. Dr C's housework mojo reappeared. He used the new hoover and was fulsome in its praise. I found it a bit awkward but he, far more powerful had no problem.
4. Anticipation: friend is coming to help me with housework on Tuesday. She has just started work again and was struggling to make it to the end of the month with no income. I gave her four hours pay in advance, this is a friend who won't cheat me, so I am happy in anticipation of a really neat home between her ministrations and Dr C. who can do an exceptional job when he puts his mind to it. As can his sister, both having inherited my mum's wonderful skills in this area.
5. The happiness and laughter generated by my weekly online chatroom quiz. For 12 or so years I've run this, and last night we gathered from all corners of the globe as we do.
Last night's attendees were a retired widowed businessman from Tasmania, who is a world expert on coins and used by Time Team as a dowser via maps; a young wool-grader and photographer from rural New South Wales; a retired teacher from Canada; a carer and voluntary worker from Canada, originally from Malta; a widowed and retired nursery school manager from Leitrim, via Belfast and London; a don't know what he does from Tipperary, via West Ham; a builder and joiner from Dublin and a s-a-h mum from rural Kilkenny.
Plus me, an online tutor from County Durham.
Such fun and banter - quick wits and happy relaxed chat.
There are many others who join in from week to week, we never have the same attendance - a Canadian senior nursing tutor, a New Zealand housewife, a Dublin chef and cake decorator, a County Down computer engineer, a Pennsylvanian ex I - can - do - anything now disabled by a stroke, a Serbian man of mystery. All of us have an interest in Ireland and met in a now defunct Irish chatroom, now we meet weekly for a lighthearted trivia quiz and happy chat- anyone is welcome to join us.
Irish Chat and Triv - from midnight each SaturdayErma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Evening all.
Sorry that I've been AWOL for so long - I've been having problems at work which have left me feeling really. Then last week I went away for a few days, to lovely Wiltshire - I never realised it's such a pretty county - with lots of doggy cuddles (we were staying with a friend of my DM's, who has two dogs - one is a bundle of cuddly fur, while the other is apparently usually shy with strangers but, with my usual dog magnet skills, I got lots of cuddles and even some kisses, which he usually doesn't give to anyone except his 'mum'
). Being away cheered me up a bit, and made me realise I should start posting on here again. I'm particularly delighted to see that Chickenopolis has reappeared in my absence.
Right, pleasures for today:
1) Nice, long lie-in.
2) NSD and NPD for the second day in a row. :money:
3) Lots of cuddles with Isis as she was a bit unsettled by the helicopter hovering overhead filming the Great South Run.
4) Then a couple of hours of peace and catching up with some comps as she went to sleep once the noisy creature had gone away!
5) Chatting on the phone to my DM and I mentioned that I'd been thinking about seeking voluntary redundancy, and she agreed that it would probably be a good idea. It may not happen, but it gives me something to investigate!
Hope all are well and have had a good weekend.Back after a very long break!0 -
Right, get that grit out of your eyes, where is my hankie!
Oh, and the tea. propppppppper good that!
Oh, and we can play Cross the BoPsie as well!
Now, the big hand is ...0 -
You're not the only one to feel sleep-deprived sparrer i stayed up far too late and then of course the dog (who is now on antibs, full of beans but does have a cough).
1) lovely long walk with the dogs. They love scuffling through the leaves just as much as i do
2) session 2 of couch potato to couch french fry got me to cathedral with a very healthy glow
3) after service went to lunch with 3 friends and a friend of one of them.
4) home to the girls who helped me load xoh's prunings into car so front garden now looking much better (prunings have been sat there for hmmm let's see, 3 weeks?)
5) finished the agatha raisin i bought yesterday. It ended 'the world was full of men. Out there, surely, was some man who would cherish her. Until then, there were cases to solve' or in my case places to see, students to supervise, friends to have a laugh with so thanks once again for all you guys on this thread :-)

DD. If you have a kindle they occasionally do the Agatha raisin books to free.
What can I write about a day where I have literally been a complete couch potato, only moving for drink and food ug.
1.Extra long lay in with that extra hour.
2.Animal snuggles and cuddles, one of them is going to have to go to the vet next week as we found a rather large lump not that he seems fussed by it.
3. Dinner was rather nice though I would have been miffed if it was wasn’t an rtc, it was a slow cooked lamb joint, it was reduced from £6 to £1 when I opened the packet it took up a quarter of the packaging:rotfl:
4. Food planning for the next week.
5. Realising I am working from home tomorrow as I have a brief check up in the afternoon.
6. I’ve been online “clothes window shopping” cheaper that way now I just have lists of things lol…. And watching numerous movie after movie on tv and in fairness a few giggles.:)0
